Date Released For Town Hall Meeting Regarding The EC Medical Center

On Wednesday, November 7, Ellwood City residents will finally have their chance to ask their looming questions about the recent happenings and what the future entails for the Ellwood City Medical Center as a Town Hall Meeting has been scheduled.

The meeting will begin at 6:15 p.m. and is scheduled to be held in the upstairs auditorium of the Ellwood City Municipal Building according to interim Borough Manager, Joe Cioffi

Officials from the Florida-based Americore Health LLC, including CEO Grant White, will be in attendance.

The meeting had been requested at the previous Town Hall meeting, due to the rising concerns regarding the numerous layoffs that reduced the Medical Centers work force almost by fifty-percent, the cuts to programs and departments, and the recent issues with the last three payrolls.

According to Cioffi, those planning to attend will be given a 3″x5″ note card to prepare questions.

Cioffi will handle a question-and-answer session after officials speak via collecting the 3×5 note cards with the questions. Questions can be written before or during the meetings.

The meeting will be moderated by Ellwood City Mayor Tony Court.

Also planning to be in attendance will be a representative of the Ellwood City Area School District and Dan Vogler, chairman of the Lawrence County Commissioners.

Earlier this month, a submitted letter from Ellwood City Medical Center employees asked those in the community to not believe everything heard and to continue to embrace the community hospital as a healthcare provider. [READ MORE]
