First United Methodist To Host Annual Turkey Dinner

First United Methodist Church of Ellwood City is hosting its 42nd annual turkey dinner on Saturday, November 2, 2019. The event is scheduled to be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the church located at 416 Crescent Avenue in Ellwood City. Tickets: Adults are $12.00; Kids Ages 6 to 10 are $5.00; Kids 5 and under are FREE. Ellwood City Area School District to Stage ‘Shrek the Musical’

The Ellwood City Area School District will proudly stage its annual musical next month. The school is presenting “Shrek The Musical” with a cast of over 75 high-school students and children bringing the fairy tale characters to life. Shrek the Musical is a Tony-award winning Broadway musical based on the Oscar-winning fairytale adventure of the same name. Shrek (played by Jack Brown) is the story of an unlikely hero who begrudgingly sets on a journey to rescue the feisty princess Fiona (played by Hayley Wright) who has a secret. PHOTOS: Annual Ellwood City Halloween Parade

In what may feel like annual conditions, wet weather and rain met those who paraded Lawrence Avenue on Saturday as part of the annual Ellwood City Halloween Parade. Many onlookers grabbed an umbrella and jacket to enjoy costumes, candy, and floats. The parade began at Holy Redeemer and continued west on Lawrence Avenue to 8th Street before returning on Crescent Avenue. Many area Trick or Treats are scheduled for Thursday evening. The Borough of Ellwood City will hold trick or treating from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Dear EC Tax Payers, After 12 years on the Ellwood City Area School District Board, I am stepping down to pursue other endeavors.  I do so with a great deal of pride and satisfaction of our accomplishments. From major renovations to safety improvements; from our commitment to technology in the classroom to our STEAM initiative … the list goes on. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. – “Family Laptime,” designed for babies as young as 6 months of age, toddlers, and preschoolers. Senate Approves Bernstine Legislation to Repeal State’s Asset Tax Law

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine’s (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) legislation to repeal a provision in state law that could be used as a gateway to implement a state wealth tax on personal property passed the Senate unanimously today. House Bill 1085 would repeal a law originally enacted in 1935, which aims to eliminate outdated laws and upgrade to a more efficient government. “I want to thank Senators Elder Vogel (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) and Scott Hutchinson (R-Butler, Clarion, Forest, Venango, Warren) for their partnership in getting this legislation passed by the state Senate,” said Bernstine. “This bill will help ensure that taxpayers are protected against additional…
