The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. PLEASE NOTE, WE’RE OPEN The Library will be open by appointment only. Call the library to set-up an appointment to browse for books or use a computer. Riverside Wins Wild 15-13 Slugfest Over Ellwood City

In a rivalry game that saw two wild rallies and 30 combined hits, the Riverside Panthers responded last in its 15-13 road victory over Ellwood City on Saturday. After taking a 7-5 lead in the top half of the fourth inning, only to surrender eight runs in the bottom half, the Panthers rallies late with a seven run fifth inning to take its final lead in the contest. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Amber Marie Russo, 30, of New Castle, is charged with one count of criminal mischief after police responded to a residence in Hickory Township, Lawrence County. According to a state police report, New Castle police responded to the residence on March 26 at midnight and, upon further investigation, discovered Russo had shattered a glass pane upon a window at the residence belonging to her former paramour, a 27-year-old male from New Castle. This year’s regatta will look different from past years, as event organizers decided to refresh the event with a renewed focus on eco-recreation and promoting Moraine State Park. COACH TALK: Riverside Softball Looking For New Wave of Success

The Riverside Panthers softball team will be welcomed with an onslaught of younger, talented players this year according to head coach Gerilynn Cummings. LHS Class of ’57 Announces Second Scholarship Opportunity

A second scholarship, worth $2,000, will be offered this year, in addition to the $5,000 scholarship and $500 essay award given by the 1957 Lincoln High School graduating class. The $2,000 award is designated for a 2021 Lincoln High School graduate who will continue his or her education for two years or less at a trade school, community college, nursing or cosmetology program or similar school. The $5,000 scholarship, started in 2009, goes to a student enrolling at a four-year college. Ellwood City Man Dies In 2-Vehicle Crash In West Deer Township

An Ellwood City man died in a two-vehicle crash in West Deer on Monday morning. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man on Tuesday as Mark Tedrow, 35. The crash happened shortly after 10 a.m. in the 300 block of Deer Creek Valley Road. According to West Deer police Chief Jon Lape, Tedrow was driving a box truck south on Deer Creek Valley Road when just south of Tarentum-Culmerville Road he veered off the road for about 50 feet. Every 73 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County is aiming to shed light on the problem in hopes of changing the narrative that affects 1 in 3 females and 1 in 4 males according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.
