Borough Council Awards Paving Project; Releases List of Roadways

Ellwood City Borough Council voted unanimously Monday evening to award the bid for the 2021 paving program. The winning bid came from Youngblood Paving of Wampum in the amount of $372,111.24. The amount will be paid from the Liquid Fuel Fund. The following roadways are listed to be paved: Beaver Ave (11th St-13th St.) Lee Way (North St. to College St.) Hazen Ave. (North St. to Bridge St.) Hillside Ave. (Brighton Rd. to 3rd. All Adults in Pennsylvania Are Now Eligible to Schedule COVID-19 Vaccination Appointments

Governor Tom Wolf and the COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force announced that effective Tuesday, April 13th all Pennsylvania adults will be eligible to schedule an appointment for the COVID -19 vaccine. “We need to maintain acceleration of the vaccine rollout, especially as case counts and hospitalization rates have increased,” Gov. Wolf said. “Therefore, just as President Biden has brought forward universal adult access to vaccines from May 1 to April 19, we are moving Pennsylvania’s timeline of universal adult access to April 13.” The Department of Health noted that there is ongoing appointment availability in many parts of the state even…

Ellwood City Softball Splits With Keystone Oaks & Union Over The Weekend

The Lincoln High School softball team took advantage of terrific weekend weather and played two games. They lost to Keystone Oaks on Friday and bounced back with a win against Union on Saturday. Ellwood City Borough Council to Meet Tonight

Ellwood City Borough Council will meet in person tonight, April 12, at 5:45 for a special meeting where council will consider a motion order to award the bid for the 2021 Paving Program to Youngblood Paving (Wampum, PA) in the amount of $372,111.24. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Proclamation Presented To WPIAL Champion Boys Basketball Team

Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a proclamation to the Ellwood City Wolverines basketball team this week. The team captured the school’s first WPIAL Championship in the school’s history in March with its victory over South Allegheny. FEMA To Offer COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Beginning Monday

In one of the largest programs of its type ever offered by the federal government, FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) will begin accepting applications for Funeral Assistance on Monday, April 12, 2021 through a dedicated call center. The program is open to families regardless of their income, as long as they show documentation and have not already received similar benefits through another program. Under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, FEMA will provide financial assistance for COVID-19-related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020. Ewing Park Gets ‘Paw-some’ New Addition Thanks to Reed’s Services

Life can be “Ruff.” But not for the dogs in Ewing Park thanks to Reed’s Services. Located at the intersection near the Kids Creative Kingdom is a doggy destination: A new treat and waste station. The five-star, bright red, dog box is quite “fetching” and is full of yummy goodies. Reed’s is known for supporting Ellwood City, in fact this treat station, fully funded and donated by Reed’s, was inspired by their Christmas Tree during Ewing Park’s Christmas in the Park.
