VOTE: Ellwood City Polling Locations

According to information made available on the Lawrence County government website, polling locations for Ellwood City and surrounding locations are as follows. Registered voters can cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 18 at their designated polling place, and those voting by mail-in or absentee ballot should drop their ballots off at the Lawrence County Courthouse by 8 p.m. Tuesday. Bernstine Introduces Constitutional Carry Legislation

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today introduced “constitutional carry” legislation, which would no longer require law-abiding citizens to obtain a government-issued license to carry a concealed firearm in Pennsylvania. Constitutional carry, or permitless carry, allows an individual over 21 years of age who has passed a criminal background check upon purchase of a firearm to legally carry a handgun concealed without first having to obtain government permission. Current law does not require citizens to obtain a license to openly carry a firearm in Pennsylvania. On Friday, May 8th, ninety-seven Ellwood City Juniors & Seniors attended an After Prom in the Lincoln High School big gym. This effort was planned and implemented in less than a month by a dedicated group of parent & community volunteers. The goal of the 2021 After Prom Committee was to provide a safe and fun atmosphere for the students to enjoy at the end of a tough year. The event was held from 11pm-5am directly following the prom. Comicon Returns To The Waterfront

3 Rivers Comicon returns to the Pittsburgh area to bring comics, toys, and other nerdy things to fans May 22-23, 2021 at the Waterfront in an outdoor event. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the convention, which normally takes place inside, will have all their vendors and guests under tents in the overflow lot between the Farmer’s National Bank and Steak ‘n Shake, near New Dimension Comics, this year. EC Historical Society Announces Scholarship Winners

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society awarded its Annual Robert and Janice Barensfeld Scholarship Awards to Emily Ann Borroni and Hayden Christopher Panek at a meeting Wednesday May 5th. The meeting was opened by Everett Bleakney, president of the Society. He first explained the appreciation of all who had entered essays to be judged. Bleakney stated that the History Society was blessed to be able to continue giving these awards. Ellwood City School District Receives $7,481 State Grant

The Ellwood City Area School District was awarded a $7,481 state grant by the Department of Agriculture, according to Senator Elder Vogel. The school district will use the Ag & Youth Program funding for the Garden at Perry Project.
