Tomak Scores 5 Goals, Leads Wilmington Hockey To Victory

The Wilmington Co-op Hockey team upset a first place Carrick hockey team by a score of 9-8 Monday behind an impressive five goal game by Ellwood City senior Drake Tomak. The visiting Greyhounds jumped out to a 4-1 first period and 9-4 advantage after two periods before holding off Carrick for the victory. Tomak lit the lamp twice in the first period with assists from Logan Popovich (Wilmington) and Davis Phanco (Wilmington). Ellwood City Police Department to Get K9

Ellwood City Borough Council voted Monday night to purchase a police K9. Officials moved to approve a quote from Shallow Creek Kennels for $15,000. In addition to the dog, the price includes a six-week handler course, manuals, and handouts. The new K9 will be paid from the K9 fund. This is a victory for the police department and Mayor Anthony Court, who have been pushing council for the move. The decision to implement the K9 was unanimous. Antuono Hits 1,000 Career Points, Wolverines Lose At Buzzer

Steve Antuono, Jr. hit a career scoring milestone Monday night in front of a home crowd, netting his 1,000th career point at the free throw line in the third quarter of the Wolverines non-section contest versus Union Area. However, Ellwood City was felled by a buzzer beating shot, one so close the referees converged before awarding the points to the visiting Scotties who escaped with a 59-58 victory over the Wolverines. According to a press release made available by the Ellwood City School District, Portnoff Law Associates has been hired to collect its delinquent accounts. In an effort to maximize the collection of its unpaid school real estate taxes, Ellwood City Area School District has hired the law firm of Portnoff Law Associates, Ltd. to collect its delinquent accounts.
