Fire Department to Start Advanced Life Support Program with Ellwood City Community Health Foundation Funding, Council Support

The Ellwood City Community Health Foundation presented the Ellwood City Fire Department a check for $175,000 during Monday’s council meeting. Council voted unanimously to advertise an ordinance creating an Advanced Life Support Program, as well as an agreement that the program will be partially funded by the Health Foundation’s funding. In an additional move to staff the program and provide services to the residents of Ellwood City, council established the wage for part-time paramedics and a full-time paramedic captain as $20 per hour. Helling Stadium to Open to Guests, Spectators, Athletes for Homecoming Game

Ellwood City Area School District will open the gates to the newly renovated Helling Stadium on Friday, October 14 in its first home game of the season against Beaver Falls. Municipal Woman’s Club to Host Murder Mystery Dinner

It’s dinner to die for … The Municipal Woman’s Club is pleased to present The Death of Dr. Frankenstein, a murder/mystery dinner performed by Musical Mysteries & More. Last Wander Ellwood of Season Set For Wednesday

Don’t forget about the last Wander Ellwood event of the year Wednesday, October 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will feature music by Chad Goldbach 5 to 7, vendors on the streets, and local businesses that will be open a little later than normal and offering specials. Borough Council Welcomes Jr. Councilperson; to hire Borough Manager

Ellwood City Borough Council welcomed Jr. Councilperson Kaden Schlichtkrull during the regular meeting Monday night. Schlichtkrull, a senior at Lincoln High School, was administered the oathe of office by Mayor Anthony Court before joining council at the table. He’s also involved in cross country, track, tennis, student council, and plays the trumpet in the band. ECASD Board of Directors Approves Bids for the Perry School Project

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors voted to approve bids for the Perry School project with a total bid summary cost of $10,348,578.00—a cost which includes an asbestos package. Engineers from HHSDR and CJL Engineering presented the bids and options during Thursday’s regular meeting. Included in the project will be all new electrical, HVAC, plumbing, asbestos removal, a new roof, a four-classroom addition, a nurse suite addition, new flooring, painting, new windows, fixture upgrades, and other necessary construction to bring the 1933 building up to code.
