The Time Brewpub Opens in Former Walnut Ridge School

It’s “The Time” to try something new.

The Time Brewpub, at 600 Mount Vernon Dr, Ellwood City, has opened its doors for beers, booze, food, and friends.

Owner Tony Joseph has been looking forward to this for 8 years now. His dream finally became reality on his December 7 grand opening.

“I’m overwhelmed with how many people have come out so far,” Joseph said. “I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out for our first opening week.”

Joseph said like with any business there are learning curves and growing pains, but the kitchen and staff have come full circle and things are running smoothly, and customers have offered praise for the beer and the food.

“Customers have been so kind with their words.”

Joseph said the beer at The Time Brewpub is unique.

“Our beer is monitored by a computer,” he said. “The consistency is unmatched. It’s not your normal craft beer. It’s not heavy and bitter and doesn’t leave a bad aftertaste.”

According to Joseph, a vital key to that consistency is the pub’s policy on only using the finest of ingredients.

“We have 15 beers right now all made here on main floor of brewery can actually see the tanks surrounded by the wrought iron fence.”

Top choices of customers so far include Rocky Red, a 4.5% wheat sour cherry; Grandpa Jiggs, a 4.5% wheat blood orange; and Kavorka 143, an 8.4% imperial stout.

“People are raving about how much different our craft beer is, and that is because of our brewing process.”

While at The Time Brewpub, you can’t forget the food.

Tony said tops on his list and the customers is the homemade pizza, which is a family recipe. He also said the Big Rock Deluxe ½ lb cheeseburger and the Famous Dallas Nacho Melt on Texas toast have been big hits. The menu also features appetizers, salads, and a variety of sandwiches. The fries are hand cut and can be ordered “loaded.”

“We have a wide selection. A lot of our items are favorite things that people like to eat while having a drink.”

The kitchen opens at 4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and at noon on Saturdays and Sundays and closes at 8 p.m.

“We will be opening for lunch in the near future.”

The atmosphere inside is modern.

In addition to the giant steel brew tanks, the pub is decked out in black brick walls with murals from the pop culture era.

“I love how it looks inside.”

The spacious bar is surrounded by high ceilings and an open floor plan.

While enjoying your beer and food, customers can enjoy  sports on the multiple TV’s surrounding the room including NFL’s Sunday Ticket. Tony also added entertainment with Acoustic Wednesday’s, bands, and other entertainment on most Saturday’s. His own band Big Machine was the first in the lineup.

The Time Brewpub will be inviting bands to play. Tony said any bands interested should reach out to him for consideration at thetimebrewpub@gmail.com.

And he is still hiring servers and kitchen help.

Tony is the owner of other businesses as well including It’s Time Fitness, Sign of the Times Salon, and Big Time Tan—all housed next to his brewpub in what some remember as the former Walnut Ridge Elementary School.

He said there is a large off-street parking lot.

“I look forward to welcoming the community to stop in and see what we have to offer.”
