Samuel J. Dicianno, 77, of Wampum passed away at the VA Community Center in Butler on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Born in New Castle on August 20, 1940, Samuel was the son of the late Julius “Juke” and Antionette “Truny” Scala Dicianno.  Sam retired from B&W where he worked as a ladleman in the melt shop.  Sam was a Veteran of the United States Army.  He enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Erie with his friends. Carol Ann Herko, 61, of Wampum passed away in her residence on Friday, July 20, 2018.  Born in Ellwood City on January 2, 1957, Carol was the daughter of the late Ralph and Sarah Hudspath Redmond.  Carol was strong-willed and fun loving with a vibrant personality.  She cared deeply about her family, friends and especially her patients at the Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehab Center where she worked as an LPN.  She enjoyed going to the casino, but her passion was for the beach. Robert L. Locke, 71 of Ellwood City passed away at the Oakland VA Hospital on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 6:48 PM. Born in Ellwood City on July 24, 1946, Robert was the son of the late Arthur and Melissa Gould Locke.  Robert worked at the B & W in Koppel and Ambridge as a Millwright.  He later worked at Veka in Fombell.  Robert was a veteran of the Navy.  He was a member of the Ellwood VFW, Hungarian Home, Polish White Eagles and the Ellwood SOI Lodge. Thomas P. Shaffer, 85 of Ellwood City passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 7:27 AM in Butler Township. Born in Franklin Township on November 11, 1932, Thomas was the son of the late Clarence and Hazel Palm Shaffer.  Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Prokop Shaffer in 2001.  He was retired from Matthew where he worked as a millwright.  Thomas was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Ellwood City and veteran of the Navy serving in the Korean War. John A. Folino, 90, of Ellwood City, passed away in his residence on the morning of Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Born in Ellwood City on January 9, 1928 to the late Frederico and Angelina Rizzo Folino, John graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945.  He worked as a Junior Commando at US Steel before leaving to join the 82nd Airborne during WWII.  While serving in the Army, John was both an MP and a paratrooper.  He graduated from Geneva College in 1953 and later attended Bucknell University.  He also worked as a surveyor for the Pennsylvania Turnpike.  John married the…

Cynthia L. “Cindy” Pertile, 68 of Ellwood City is now singing with the angels after passing away on Friday, May 25, 2018.  A 1967 graduate of Lincoln High School, Cindy went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Geneva College and her Master’s degree in Music Education from Duquesne University.  For 33 years Cindy blessed the Ellwood City community by sharing her joy of teaching children through music.  As choir director at Lincoln High School, she took many choirs to Florida, New York City, Washington D.C. and Tennessee to perform and hosted several Pennsylvania Music…

Virginia A. “Ginie” Walters, 67, of Perry Township, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars. Born on October 12, 1950 in Pittsburgh, PA Ginie was the daughter of the late Raymond and Regina Schneider Adams.  She graduated from Perry High School and later married David M. Born August 9th, 1932 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Willa (Daufen) Varner. A 1950 graduate of Lincoln High School. She first worked at Margaret’s Restaurant.
