Richard G. Loccisano, 84, of Ellwood City, passed away in the ER of the Ellwood City Medical Center on Saturday July 28, 2018. Born in Ellwood City on May 5, 1934, Richard was the son of the late Nicholas and Bettina Giancotti Loccisano.  Richard was preceded in death by his wife, the former Virginia “Ginger” Catroppa on April 13, 2016.  They were married on April 25, 1954.  Working in the family business started by his mother in 1916, Richard owned and operated Loccisano Brother’s Grocery Store for over 60 years.  He was still active in the store operation.  Richard was…

Patricia A. “Pat” Turner, 95, of Ellwood City, passed away in the Ellwood City Medical Center on Friday July 27, 2018.   Born in Ellwood City on November 15, 1922, Pat was the daughter of the late Carl “Les” and Anna Boyle Vogt.  A 1940 graduate of Lincoln High School, Pat married Francis R. “Bud” Turner on July 7, 1943.  Bud preceded her in death on August 11, 2009 after 66 years of marriage.  Pat was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of its Christian Mothers.  One of the…

Samuel J. Dicianno, 77, of Wampum passed away at the VA Community Center in Butler on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Born in New Castle on August 20, 1940, Samuel was the son of the late Julius “Juke” and Antionette “Truny” Scala Dicianno.  Sam retired from B&W where he worked as a ladleman in the melt shop.  Sam was a Veteran of the United States Army.  He enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Erie with his friends. Carol Ann Herko, 61, of Wampum passed away in her residence on Friday, July 20, 2018.  Born in Ellwood City on January 2, 1957, Carol was the daughter of the late Ralph and Sarah Hudspath Redmond.  Carol was strong-willed and fun loving with a vibrant personality.  She cared deeply about her family, friends and especially her patients at the Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehab Center where she worked as an LPN.  She enjoyed going to the casino, but her passion was for the beach. Thomas P. Shaffer, 85 of Ellwood City passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 7:27 AM in Butler Township. Born in Franklin Township on November 11, 1932, Thomas was the son of the late Clarence and Hazel Palm Shaffer.  Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Prokop Shaffer in 2001.  He was retired from Matthew where he worked as a millwright.  Thomas was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Ellwood City and veteran of the Navy serving in the Korean War. John A. Folino, 90, of Ellwood City, passed away in his residence on the morning of Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Born in Ellwood City on January 9, 1928 to the late Frederico and Angelina Rizzo Folino, John graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945.  He worked as a Junior Commando at US Steel before leaving to join the 82nd Airborne during WWII.  While serving in the Army, John was both an MP and a paratrooper.  He graduated from Geneva College in 1953 and later attended Bucknell University.  He also worked as a surveyor for the Pennsylvania Turnpike.  John married the…

Cynthia L. “Cindy” Pertile, 68 of Ellwood City is now singing with the angels after passing away on Friday, May 25, 2018.  A 1967 graduate of Lincoln High School, Cindy went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Geneva College and her Master’s degree in Music Education from Duquesne University.  For 33 years Cindy blessed the Ellwood City community by sharing her joy of teaching children through music.  As choir director at Lincoln High School, she took many choirs to Florida, New York City, Washington D.C. and Tennessee to perform and hosted several Pennsylvania Music…

Virginia A. “Ginie” Walters, 67, of Perry Township, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars. Born on October 12, 1950 in Pittsburgh, PA Ginie was the daughter of the late Raymond and Regina Schneider Adams.  She graduated from Perry High School and later married David M.
