William “Bill” Cox, 75, of Ellwood City, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Brighton Township. Born in Beaver Falls on June 27, 1942, Bill was the son of the late Everett and Martha Schwartz Cox.  After Bill retired from B&W, he worked for several years at Camp Kon-O-Kwee.  Bill served in the Pennsylvania National Guard.  He loved riding and restoring vintage motorcycles and he also loved his black lab, Cole.  A lifetime member of the NRA, Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited and Castlewood Rod…

John Robert Gavrile, 65 of Ellwood City passed away at Allegheny General Hospital on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Born in Ellwood City on April 28, 1952, John was the son of the late John and Antonetta Butchelle Gavrile.  John is survived by his wife, the former Kelly Jesseman whom he married on September 16, 1979.  John had worked at the Aetna Standard in Ellwood until its closing.  He later worked for Phoenix Glass in Monaca and at US Airways.  John always enjoyed sports, playing as a youth and later in several Ellwood adult softball leagues.  John also enjoyed coaching, he…

Harold L. Laderer II, 60, of Worth Township, a much loved husband, father, grandpa, son, brother and uncle, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at VNA Hospice. Harold was born on December 12, 1957, the son of Harold and Doris Bupp Laderer of Portersville.  He married the former Lynn Wilver on July 10, 1982.  Harold grew up in Slippery Rock and graduated from Slippery Rock High School.  He furthered his education at Berkley School of Music in Boston and Stanley Spector School of Drumming in New York City.  He retired in 2014 from the Ellwood City Forge and attended…

Raymond Michael Bettoni, 60, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away on October 19, 2017, ending his courageous battle with cancer. Born in Ellwood City on April 22, 1957, Raymond was the son of the late Raymond and Rose Delorenzo Bettoni.  He graduated from Riverside High School in 1975 and enlisted in the United States Navy the following year.  He served on the USS Tarawa during Desert Storm.  Raymond retired from the Navy in 2000 as a Petty Officer 1st Class.  He then worked as a computer analyst for CVS until he retired in March of 2017. Ida Ottaviani, 93, of Hazel Avenue, Ellwood City, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at VNA Hospice in Butler Township. Born in Ellwood City on May 19, 1924, Ida was the daughter of the late Vincent and Mary Grace Zona Riccardi.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Ottaviani in 2010 after 68 years of marriage.  A member of Holy Redeemer Parish and the Christian Mothers of the Church, Ida was also a member of the Opti-Mrs. Club.  She enjoyed golfing and playing cards. Eugene “Gene” Ierace, 88, of Whispering Oaks, Hermitage, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born on January 4, 1930 in Ellwood City, Gene was the son of the late Dominic and Bertha Florio Ierace.  He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Joyce Fosnaught, whom he married on September 15, 1956.  Gene retired from Air Products and Chemicals where he was a plant supervisor.  A Veteran of the US Army, Gene served in Korea from 1951 to 1953.  He enjoyed fishing, music, home remodeling projects and spending time with his family. Robert E. Campbell, 85 of Harmony-Fisher Ave., Ellwood City passed away at his residence on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 5:35 PM. James V. Capone, 94, of Ellport, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Heritage Valley Beaver.
