Lawrence County SportsNet Launches Just In Time For Football Season

Lawrence County sports just had its greatest year in history, and now the area is about to get an upgrade to its live coverage of the “County of Champions.” The Lawrence County SportsNet Powered by LCCAP is announcing the launch of their broadcasting network for the beginning of the 2021-22 scholastic year. The Network plans to provide video and audio broadcasts for over 100 local sporting and community events over the course of the year. Ellwood City Historical Society Now Taking Reservations For Annual Fund Drive In September

Dinner reservations are being accepted for the Ellwood City Historical Society’s Annual Fund Drive on Monday, Sept.13, at Connoquenessing Country Club. Menu choices are Tuscan chicken stuffed with ham, spinach and mozzarella cheese in a sun-dried tomato sauce; breaded cod piccata with artichokes, onion, capers and tomato white lemon burre; and sirloin medallions with peppers, onions and mushrooms. Riverside Lions Continues Hygiene Project With Hygiene Boxes At Local Stores

BC3 Begins To Raze Two Buildings In Preparation For High-Tech Nine Million Dollar Facility

(Butler, PA) With repeated swipes of its five 6-inch steel teeth at the end of its outstretched 38-foot-long arm, an excavator Thursday morning began to shred the roofing and tear through walls of two buildings at Butler County Community College in preparation for the construction of the college’s $9 million, state-of-the-art Victor K. Phillips Nursing and Allied Health Building. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

TERRORISTIC THREATS James Urbanic, 71, of Ellwood City, was charged with making Terroristic Threats on July 5th in Ellwood City. Police received a report of terroristic threats and upon arrival of the scene, the victim stated that Urbanic and himself were in a dispute over property on Tara Drive and Hickernell Road. During the dispute, the victim claimed Urbanic made numerous threats and then proceeded to enter his garage to retrieve what was later identified as a shotgun and loaded it in view of the victim and pointed it at the victim for several seconds. BC3 Gets State Approval To Launch Practical Nursing Program

(Butler, PA) The Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing has authorized Butler County Community College to create a practical nursing program on BC3’s main campus, an approval that will enable the college to prepare students for the high-priority occupation in western Pennsylvania. The college in June 2020 announced its plan to establish the program as a result of an up to $10 million partnership with Concordia Lutheran Ministries, a Cabot-based health care provider. Mayor Court Swears In New Full Time Police Officer

Mayor Anthony J. Court swore in Police Officer James Cunningham into the Ellwood City Police Department. The new officer was sworn in at Mayor Court’s office on August 3, 2021. Officer Cunningham is now a full-time officer. The Ellwood City Police Department  now has 11 full-time officers and 3 part-time officers in the department. RESULTS: 2021 Delmar Golf Course Championship

The annual Delmar Golf Course Club Championship was held Saturday July 31, and Sunday August 1, 2021, which consisted of over 40 Delmar members. Here are the results from the 2021 Championship. Lino Simeoni collected his 2nd title with a 2 and 1 victory over Brad Linville in the championship bracket. Ellwood City golf team Senior and team Captain Milo Sesti claimed the A-Flight championship with a 3 and 2 victory over Rosie Tammaro. Beaver County Man Admits Lying on Firearms Purchase Forms

PITTSBURGH, PA – A resident of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, has pled guilty to a charge of making a false statement to purchase firearms, Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced this last week. Calvin Brady Jr, age 24, plead guilty before Judge David S. Cercone on July 29, 2021. In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that on December 12, 2020, the Brady Jr. purchased four Taurus, model GC3, 9mm caliber pistols from Rural King Holdings LLP, a federal firearm licensee in Monaca, PA.
