The victim was advised by his employer that they had received a notification that he had applied for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance. However, he made no such claims. Mayor Anthony J. Court awarded Bill and Samantha DeJoseph the 5th 2021 Beautification Award. Bill and Samantha reside at 1112 Center Avenue in Ellwood City. “The DeJoseph’s did an outstanding job,” said Mayor Court in a statement. “Congratulations, Bill and Samantha!” The couple received a yard sign to display and a gift certificate from a local restaurant. Master Gardeners Host Annual Garden Tour

The Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County are hosting their Fourth Annual Garden Tour on Sunday, July 18th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The tour highlights four area gardens, which can be toured at your own pace. Master Gardeners will be available at each location to answer questions. Each garden will provide an opportunity to view different styles of gardens, a chance to talk to the creators of these gardens and get their input on their gardening experiences, and talk to Penn State Master Gardeners from Lawrence County. $201,600 Green Light-Go Grant Awarded to New Castle

New Castle will receive a $201,600 state grant to improve traffic safety under Pennsylvania’s “Green Light-Go” program, according to Senator Elder Vogel. The city was awarded the grant to modernize the Butler/Taylor traffic signal. New Castle was among 50 municipalities statewide sharing more than $15.6 million in the current round of Green Light-Go funding. The program provides funding to install light-emitting diode (LED) technology, perform regional operations such as retiming, develop special event plans and monitor traffic signals, as well as upgrade traffic signals to the latest technologies.


Riverside Youth Football To Host Parents Night Out

A Parents Night Out will be held on July 31st at Mike’s Main Street to help benefit The Riverside Youth Football Organization. The event will start at 7:00 p.m. The cost of admission to the event is $2.00. There will be a live DJ, $2.00 jello shots, 50/50 raffles, a Last Man Standing Game, and $3.00 green Riverside shot. Governor Wolf Signs Legislation Expanding Access to Medical Marijuana

On Wednesday, Governor Tom Wolf signed legislation that will provide important updates to Pennsylvania’s Medical Marijuana Act to ensure better access for patients. House Bill 1024 acts on recommendations made by the Department of Health to revise the Medical Marijuana Act, which was signed into law in 2016. Specifically, it protects patient safety standards and product quality of Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana program while empowering the Medical Marijuana Advisory Board to continue to consider new medical conditions for eligibility. Bernstine Votes ‘No’ on State Budget That Increases Spending by 8.8%

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Beaver/Lawrence) today voted “no” on the state budget for Fiscal Year 2021-22. Bernstine issued the following statement citing excessive government spending led to his negative vote. “When it comes to spending taxpayers’ money, I don’t think we ought to look at a budget and say it’s not perfect, but it’s good enough.
