Historical Society Announces Two Scholarship Winners

The annual Robert and Janice Barensfeld Scholarships were awarded at the Ellwood City Historical Society on Monday. Emily Fox, of Riverside High School, and Mark VanHorn, of Lincoln High School, were the graduating seniors who each earned the the scholarships. The meeting was opened by President Everett Bleakney, who welcomed all present to an exciting evening. Guy Prestia, a WWII veteran lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Riverside High School’s promenade will mark the coronation of the Prom King and Prom Queen on Friday, May 13. Promenade is held at the high school beginning at 5:30, when students will first promenade in the gymnasium then proceed to the auditorium. Ellwood City Area School District Begins Capital Improvement Projects

According to a press release from the district, Ellwood City Area School District capital improvements have begun throughout the district. As part of an extensive capital improvement project that includes work at all four district buildings, the most visible project is underway. Reisinger Among 3 Recent NJCAA Division III All-Americans To Be Honored Saturday

Former Lincoln High School standout Breanna Reisinger will be among three athletes honored Saturday at BC3. Reisinger, Morgan Jack, and Aslyn Pry, all first-year student-athletes, have been selected as National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III All-Americans since December and will be recognized Saturday at the BC3 Field House. Reisinger is a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City; Jack, of Knoch High and Pry, of Moniteau. Reisinger led BC3’s volleyball team in 2021 with 205 kills and Jack, with 635 assists. Beaver Tales – Beaver County Conservation District Updates

The Beaver County Conservation District held a spring tire collection event on April 1st and April 2nd at the district office. We accepted light truck and car tires up to 20” off rim at a cost of $2.50 per tire. This discounted price was possible through the West Nile Virus Grant for education and habitat reduction. We collected over 1,000 tires during the 2-day event. Like our past tire collections, we used the services of Liberty Tire Recycling.
