Ellwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation To Meet Friday

The Ellwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation (ECIAHF) will meet this Friday, May 27th at 10:00 a.m. Elwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation is a non-profit special community-based initiative involving Italian ethnic research and genealogy. The focus of the group is on sharing Ellwood City Area Italian Family heritage information. Rocky Bleier to Speak at The Moving Wall in Ellwood City

Former Pittsburgh Steeler star running back and Vietnam veteran, Robert Patrick “Rocky” Bleier, will be the featured speaker at the opening ceremony for The Moving Wall to be displayed in Ellwood City’s Ewing Park from August 18 to 22, 2022. The ceremony, scheduled for 6:30 P.M. on August 18 at the Folino Shelter, is open to the public. Visitation of the Wall will begin after the Ceremony. Borough Of Ellwood City Announces Vacancy

The Borough of Ellwood City has announced a vacancy exists on the Ellwood City Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service Commission is one of the Borough’s authorities, boards and commissions composed of volunteer citizen appointees which perform vital functions within the Borough. Any Borough resident interested in serving on the Commission is asked to submit a letter of interest to the Borough Secretary at 525 Lawrence Avenue, Ellwood City. All letters must be due/postmarked on or before 4:00 p.m. on June 2, 2022.


Ellwood City Wolves Club Recognizes Boys Basketball Team

The Ellwood City Wolves Club 11 recognized the Ellwood City Wolverines Boys Basketball Team at their meeting on Wednesday May 11th. The team received recognition for being the first team in the history of the school for being the 2020-2021 WPIAL Champions and the 2021-2022 Section 3A Champions. The team also had two players scoring over 1,000 points in their high school careers. Historical Society Announces Two Scholarship Winners

The annual Robert and Janice Barensfeld Scholarships were awarded at the Ellwood City Historical Society on Monday. Emily Fox, of Riverside High School, and Mark VanHorn, of Lincoln High School, were the graduating seniors who each earned the the scholarships. Riverside High School’s promenade will mark the coronation of the Prom King and Prom Queen on Friday, May 13. Promenade is held at the high school beginning at 5:30, when students will first promenade in the gymnasium then proceed to the auditorium. Ellwood City Area School District Begins Capital Improvement Projects

According to a press release from the district, Ellwood City Area School District capital improvements have begun throughout the district. As part of an extensive capital improvement project that includes work at all four district buildings, the most visible project is underway.
