Be A Superhero Relay For Life -Saturday, June 2, 2018, 1:00 – 10:00 P.M. Public is welcome to join us in downtown Ellwood City at 1:00 p.m. for our opening ceremony, survivor (who are our superheros) and team laps.  Teams will start fundraising; walkers can circle the sidewalk from 5th to 6th streets on Lawrence Avenue follow the track shoe footprints, the kids zone will open along with many food and craft vendors.  Chalk The Town sidewalk art contest will be from 2 pm until 6:30 pm between the municipal building and Grandpaws, registration starts at 1 pm.  Entertainment includes;…

Mayor Court has announced that once again Ellwood City residents will turn their properties into beautiful landscapes, bring the neighborhoods back to life for everyone to enjoy. This will be the 8th year that Mayor Court will present “Beautification Awards” and restaurant certificates to six (6) area residents who are nominated for taking pride in their properties throughout Ellwood City. New Dimension Comics Hosts 3 Rivers Comicon For 3rd Year!

Featuring comic book vendors, publishers, and over 100 artists, 3 Rivers Comicon returns to West Mifflin.  The convention will take place Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20, 2018. House Approves Bernstine Bill to Improve Access to Care in Mental Health Emergency

HARRISBURG – Marking May as Mental Health Awareness Month, the state House of Representatives today voted unanimously to approve legislation, authored by Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence), to remove bureaucratic barriers to behavioral health services for individuals seeking immediate treatment. House Bill 1997 would allow patients in crisis to be instantly “deemed eligible” for care at a behavioral health facility while their Medical Assistance application is being reviewed. “When behavioral health emergencies arise, individuals who are unable to receive immediate care at the appropriate facility are forced to incur costly bills for emergency room visits, or in worse-case scenarios, they become…


Senators Urge Governor to Act to Eliminate Summer Gas Mandate

Town Hall Meeting to Discuss House Bill 2030

An informational “Save Our Town” meeting has been planned for Thursday May 3, beginning at 6:30pm at the Ellwood City Municipal Building Auditorium. A recent passage in Harrisburg of House Bill 2030 (HB 2030) specifically targeting Ellwood City Borough has raised serious concerns on the future of the town. Ellwood City for years has transferred money from the electric fund to balance the Borough’s general fund budget. The city is one of 35 other municipalities statewide where residents and businesses buy their electricity from the municipality instead of a private utility.
