2018 Lincoln High School Prom “Written in the Stars”

The 2018 Lincoln High School Prom “Written in the Stars” will be held on Friday May 4th, 2018 at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, New Castle Pa. The annual Lincoln High School promenade will begin at 5:30. Doors open at 5:00 and tickets can be purchased at the door or in the High School Office. Ticket’s for this years promenade are $3.00 a piece and seating is first come first serve. Following the Promenade students will enjoy dinner and dancing at Scottish Rite Cathedral from 6:00 – 11:00 before returning to the SOI in Ellwood City for the traditional After Prom event….


Panthers, Danny Fox Shut Out New Brighton

Danny Fox had all the right stuff on Tuesday for the Riverside Panthers, allowing zero runs and besting New Brighton by a score of 10-0 Riverside tallied five runs in the third inning. Drew Speicher, Brian MacMurdo, Ty Thellman, and Fox each had RBIs in the big inning. Fox was the winning pitcher for Riverside, he went five innings, allowing zero runs on five hits and striking out six. Riverside collected ten hits on the day. Speicher and Thellman all managed multiple hits for Riverside. Speicher led Riverside with three hits in four at bats. Ellwood City Junior High Softball Team Runs Undefeated Streak to 7 Games

7 was the number of the day as the Lady Wolverines raised their record to 7-0 with a 7-0 victory over Laurel on the Spartan’s home turf. EC’s Angie Nardone and Laurel’s Grace Kissick were locked in a pitcher’s duel that saw the game scoreless until the top of the fourth with each team managing to get just 1 base runner. PHOTOS: Panthers Run Away From Wolverines Late In 8-2 Victory

Riverside used late scoring outbursts to help easily dispatched Ellwood City 8-2 on Monday afternoon at Sanders Field in Ewing Park. The visiting Panthers (11-1 overall) put up four runs in the sixth and another four runs in the final frame after the Wolverines chipped into the lead. Riverside’s offense in the seventh came from singles by Drew Speicher, Ethan Ziegler, and Ben Hughes and a sac fly by Ty Thellman. Gunnar Boehm was the winning pitcher for Riverside. PHOTOS: Big Second Inning Propels Lady Wolverines To Victory Over Riverside

Two Ellwood City homers led to an eight run outburst in the second inning that propelled the Lady Wolverines past visiting Riverside 15-2 in varsity softball action. Breonna Streit, Maura Agostinelli, Makinley Magill, Anna Ferrucci, Maria Ioanilli, and Zoe Kalantzis all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.  Ellwood City added on six more runs in the third inning. EC JR HIGH SOFTBALL TEAM REMAINS UNDEFEATED BEATS MOHAWK 14-0 The offense started out on fire as they plated 13 runs in the first inning on Friday night at Stiefel Park. The game was halted after 5 innings as the mercy rule took effect. Kyla Servick, Kali Barnett, and Grace Balin led the charge with doubles. This week’s Old Photo Friday, courtesy of the Ellwood City Historical Society is Chairman of the revenue division Paul Laurell (left) and Boyd McDowell of McDowell’s Hotel (right), May 10, 1967, counting souvenir Diamond Jubilee coins. The coins were manufactured and used to help publicize the Diamond Jubilee celebration. Ellwood City was founded 1892 and celebrated their 75th anniversary with a series of events throughout the summer of 1967 named the Diamond Jubuilee. The summer featured a street carnival, a grand ball, various church services, musical concerts, fireworks displays and several parades. People were able to obtain the souvenir coins…


Lawrence County Kids Car Show April 29th

The Lawrence County Car Show is a family friendly event featuring cars, face painting and music. The month of April is know as Child Abuse Prevention Month and this event would like to shed light and bring awareness to child abuse, their community and appreciation for our countries resource families.
