Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of June 11

Activities for the week of June 11 include the following:

Monday, June 11, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. This program is usually held on Wednesdays, but will meet on Monday mornings instead during the summer months. “Coloring for Adults” is a program designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.

Monday, June 11, at 6:30 p.m. – Classics Book Group for Adults. The group will discuss the book, “Landfall,” by Nevil Shute. New members are welcome, so call the library for more information.

Tuesday, June 12, at 10:00 a.m. – “Jump Start to Kindergarten,” a program designed for children entering kindergarten in the fall. The program focuses on reviewing – in a fun way – what children need to know to begin school. Registration is required, so call the library for more information.

Tuesday, June 12, at 6:30 p.m. — “Family Laptime,” designed for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. This interactive program, which runs through July 3, features stories, songs, finger plays, games and more. Registration is requested, so call the library at for more information.

Wednesday, June 13, at 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. – “Summer Quest: Libraries Rock,” a weekly summer program for kindergarten and 1st graders (who meet at 10:00 a.m.) and 2nd and 3rd graders (who meet at 11:00 a.m.). These programs feature games, stories, activities and one silly science experiment each week. Registration is required, so call the library for more information.

Wednesday, June 13, at 12:00 Noon – “Book Bunch,” a book discussion group designed for 3rd graders that meets once a month in June, July and August. Members get a book to read and discuss, and gather for discussion and pizza. Call the library for more information.

Wednesday, June 13, at 1:00 p.m. — “Building Buddies,” a new program of fun and learning for toddlers and preschoolers. This interactive program allows kids to explore building and socialization skills. No registration is required, so call the library for more information.

Thursday, June 14, at 10:00 a.m. – “Puppet Theater Workshop,” designed for students in 4th grade and up. The kids create plays and then meet throughout the summer to rehearse the plays using marionettes and puppets. Then, in late July, those participating present their plays to family, friends and other Summer Reading Program-goers. Call the library for more information.

Thursday, June 14, at 12:00 Noon – “Just 4 Girls,” a book discussion group for girls in 9th grade and up. The group meets once each month for book discussion and pizza. Call the library for more information.

Thursday, June 14, at 6:00 p.m. – Adult Knitting Group which meets weekly to work on individual projects. New members are welcome, so call the library for more information.

Friday, June 15, at 6:00 p.m. – Another Night of Fun at the Library with a “Words on Wood” fundraiser. Those attending can choose their own word or use one provided that evening. The words are then transferred onto a beautiful piece of wood which can be hung or displayed on a shelf. No experience necessary! Complimentary fruit trays, two different kinds of punch, coffee and cookies will also be featured. Tickets are $25 and all materials are provided. Seating is limited so call the Library at 724-758-6458 for more information.

The library is now accepting book donations for the Annual Book Sale which is scheduled for October 1-6. Books of all types in good condition may be dropped off at the library during regular business hours. The library will NOT accept textbooks of any type, no magazines, no Readers’ Digest Condensed Books, no encyclopedias and no VHS tapes. Call the library for more information.
