Ellwood City Chamber Announces Holiday Event Weekends

As we are beginning to prepare for the upcoming holiday season, Ellwood City has begun preparing for towns holiday events. The goal is to work together with community organizations and businesses to help provide family friendly events that will help kick off the holiday season. Small Business Saturday will be held on Saturday, November 24, and Let There Be Lights will be held Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1. Ellwood City Library Activities For The Week Of November 5

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5 In observance of Veteran’s Day the Ellwood City Area Public Library will be closed. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.- “Family Laptime,” designed for babies as young as 6 month of age, toddlers, and preschoolers. Charleroi Shrugs Off Sluggish Start, Defense Helps Upend Riverside

Charleroi shrugged off a sluggish started and used defensive plays in the second half to turn momentum, avoid another upset, and come away with a 35-21 victory over Riverside Friday night at Myron Pottios Stadium. After trailing 14-0 in the first half and later in the third quarter, the #4 seed Cougars scored 21 unanswered points to upend the 13-seeded Panthers. POLICE: Women Attacks Boyfriend With Frying Pan, Local Man Tazed

Girlfriend Charged For Beating Boyfriend With A Frying Pan State police reported on Monday, October 17 at 6:30 p.m. that Elaine Pedro, age 24 of Enon Valley, intentionally attacked her boyfriend. The victim reported that in the morning of Sunday, October 14, Pedro hit him on the back left side of his head with a frying pan, scratched the left side of his face, the lower right side of his neck, and his right hand with her fingers that caused visible injury. Date Released For 2018 Ellwood City Powderpuff Games

This years Ellwood City Powderpuff games will be played on Wednesday, November 14. The games will be played at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Between the 81 girls signed up to play, freshman will play against the sophomores, with the big game of the juniors playing the unbeaten senior team. The games are a big fundraiser for the cheerleaders. The money not only goes towards their banquet in February, but they will also be making a donation for Club Hope at Lincoln High School. Club Hope is a borough nonprofit that has been helping people that have been affected by cancer…

Halloween is a time of year when ghost stories, folklores, and other scary tales begin to surface. In and around Lawrence County, one story seems to never lose its fascination. Mary Black, an alleged witch in Lawrence County during the 1800s, has been the antagonist of countless folklores since the 1950s. Her life, and the stories that accompany it, is constantly debated. Tales Of The Koppel Green Man

While there are many stories without a known origin, like the tale of Bloody Mary, The Hook, or even the well known tales of the creature Slenderman, one known legend claims local Koppel Pa it’s origin. The Green Man, also known as Charlie No Face, comes from a place just miles outside of Ellwood City. As these stories get passed down from generation to generation, multiple versions come about. Ellwood City Medical Center Communal Events

Tonight for Ellwoods Trick or Treating, the Ellwood Cit Medical Center will be handing out treats from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be treats located near the main entrance driveway. In other news, the Medical Center will be hosting a Meals On Wheels jewelry sale fundraiser. The fundraiser will be Thursday, November 8 from 8:00 a.m until 4:00 p.m., and on Friday, November 9 from 8:00 am.m and 3:00 p.m. All jewelry will be sold for $6.00 a piece, and there will also be designer inspired handbags, electronics, and more sold. Panthers Set To Travel For WPIAL Playoff Opening Round Game

The Riverside Panthers will make an 80-mile journey and travel to Charleroi on Friday for their opening round game Friday night at 7:30pm in Carroll Township. The Panthers (6-3 overall) gathered a 13-seed in the Class-AA WPIAL Playoffs and will open with a defacto road game against Interstate Conference champion Charleroi (8-1 overall) on the Cougars home turf. Riverside is led by junior Ben Hughes (6-2, 200, Jr., QB) and senior LeMarcus Cleckley on offense.
