Ellwood City Medical Center Communal Events

Tonight for Ellwoods Trick or Treating, the Ellwood Cit Medical Center will be handing out treats from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be treats located near the main entrance driveway. In other news, the Medical Center will be hosting a Meals On Wheels jewelry sale fundraiser. The fundraiser will be Thursday, November 8 from 8:00 a.m until 4:00 p.m., and on Friday, November 9 from 8:00 am.m and 3:00 p.m. All jewelry will be sold for $6.00 a piece, and there will also be designer inspired handbags, electronics, and more sold. Panthers Set To Travel For WPIAL Playoff Opening Round Game

The Riverside Panthers will make an 80-mile journey and travel to Charleroi on Friday for their opening round game Friday night at 7:30pm in Carroll Township. The Panthers (6-3 overall) gathered a 13-seed in the Class-AA WPIAL Playoffs and will open with a defacto road game against Interstate Conference champion Charleroi (8-1 overall) on the Cougars home turf. Riverside is led by junior Ben Hughes (6-2, 200, Jr., QB) and senior LeMarcus Cleckley on offense. Tax Collector Office Hours

Ellwood City tax collector, Maryann Portugallo will be in her office at 525 Lawrence Avenue on Wednesday and will be available from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. During the month of November, she will be available on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Starting Tuesday, December 4,  Portugallo will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. For more information, call 724-758-9673.

PHOTOS: Riverside Panthers Knocked Off By A Late New Brighton Touchdown

New Brighton backer Ashton Fath scored with less than a minute in regulation to boost the Lions to a 22-16 road victory over the Panthers Friday night. Riverside held a 13-8 halftime lead on the strength of a Nathan Sciarro touchdown run and Ben Hughes 10-yard touchdown pass and led midway through the final quarter. Panther kicker Sciarro connected on a 30-plus yard field goal in the wet, soggy field conditions in the fourth quarter to give Riverside their last lead at 16-14. PHOTOS: Welsh Leads Wolverines To Wet & Wild Senior Night Victory

As if one overtime was not enough on a wet and sloppy Friday Night, the Ellwood City and Brentwood non-conference game stretched over three hours and into a third overtime before the Wolverine came out victorious, 34-26, to cap off their 2018 season in victorious fashion. Ellwood City Senior Brady Welsh scored on a 6-yard run to secure a triple overtime and led a Wolverine defense that stifled Brentwood’s last chance in the third OT frame as fellow senior Ricky Pitrelli intercepted a final pass attempt by Brentwood QB John Milcic. Library Activities For the Week Of October 29

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include:   TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. – “Family Laptime,” designed for babies as young as 6 month of age, toddlers, and preschoolers.  This is an interactive, family event and features stories, songs, games, finger plays and more.  Registration is requested. Do You Believe In Ghostly Apparitions? Digital Paranormal Investigates

On Saturday, October 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. you can join Digital Paranormal Investigations to investigate the Wampum Train Station. You might just witness something that’s not completely human. The event is being sponsored by Wampum Community Revitalization. Digital Paranormal Investigations is a group that investigates supposedly haunted buildings, areas, or they even make house calls to homes that the people that live there believe that something else is in the house. Gaming Control Board To Hold Public Input Hearing For Mount Airy Casino

HARRISBURG, PA: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced Thursday that it will hold a public input hearing on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 in the social room of the Big Beaver Borough Fire Station #14 to collect testimony on the Category 4 casino application submitted by Mount Airy #1, LLC. Man Charged With Burglary, Trespassing & Threats In Wayne Township

On Friday, October 12, just after 10:00 p.m, state police were called to a house on Guy Way, Wayne Township with reports of a white male breaking into a females home. The witness that called in stated he was throwing a party with a group of his friends when he noticed the male entering his neighbors home. He proceeded to then go to his neighbors house and observed the male, who he identified as the victims ex-boyfriend Zachary Dinell, 25, of Freedom, ransacking the living room and kitchen. On Wednesday, November 7, Ellwood City residents will finally have their chance to ask their looming questions about the recent happenings and what the future entails for the Ellwood City Medical Center as a Town Hall Meeting has been scheduled.
