New Day Care Center To Open In Ellwood

With COVID restrictions beginning to be lifted, more and more people are starting to head back to in person work. A lot of working class people have children at home to worry about and some don’t always have people to rely on for child care. Ellwood City Locals To Play In Summer Concert

The Summer Concert Live season will be one of the first larger events to be held in downtown New Castle after the lifting of many COVID restrictions. With the concert series kicking off Friday, June 25th with New Castle’s ‘The Dorals’, a six-piece band performing music from the Baby Boomer generation, showcasing their talents. Their performance will be accompanied by a Classic Car Show, hosted by the Rapid Tappets Car Club. Ellwood City To Be Apart Of Largest Virtual Game Of Catch

Ellwood City will be one of over 100 virtual locations to take place in the largest virtual game of catch next Wednesday June 30th. Jeff Potter of The Potter Baseball Tour, came up with this idea as a way to bring the community together have people of all ages participate in this once in a lifetime event. 2021 Hard To Recycle Event Will be Held In Ellwood City

Ellwood City Public Works Garage will hold a “hard to recycle” collection day on July 13th. The collection events have been created by the Lawrence-Mercer Recycling/Solid Waste Department to help people in the community recycle the things that normally are harder to recycle. The Lawrence-Mercer Recycling/Solid Waste Department offers this program on the second Tuesdays of each month from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The collection are held in locations in both Lawrence and Mercer counties so that more people have access to the program. Kids Quest After School Program Hopeful To Begin This Fall

There will be a new after school program for young children coming this fall. Kids Quest will be an after school program for children in grades 2nd-4th at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City. While the church is holding the program, it is a completely independent organization that is hoping to give children an after school option that benefits them and the community. The idea came from inside Calvin Presbyterian and is now growing and planning to launch in the fall. After six seasons in the NHL, Wampum native Stephen Johns is hanging up his skates. The 29-year-old Stars defenseman announced his retirement on social media Sunday. Johns now plans to travel the country to help others struggling with their mental health. First 2021 Beautification Award Presented

The 1st “Mayor Court’s 2021 Beautification Award” was presented to Emrica Shaffer and Michael Frisk of 232 Hazel Avenue. “Looks great,” said Mayor Court in a statement. “They did a beautiful job-all around!” The winners were presented with a yard sign and a gift certificate from a local restaurant. Ellwood City Tennis Set To Host Mini-Clinic

Ellwood City Tennis will be conducting a tennis clinic for any boy or girl interested in learning the basics of tennis. The tennis clinic will be held on June 28th, 29th, and 30th, 2021 at the Ewing Park Courts from 10:00 a.m to 11:15 a.m. Any child ages 5-12 is eligible to sign up and participate. Each participant will receive a t-shirt.
