Ellwood City senior standout Austin Walley collected his first WPIAL Championship over the weekend at the 2020 WPIAL AA Championship in Canon-McMillan, bringing home the first-ever WPIAL title for Ellwood City wrestling. Walley used three consecutive victories via fall during his 182-pound weight class championship run.  Walley defeated Shane Smith of Fort Cherry, Collin Milko of Carlynton, and Patrick Cutchember of Quaker Valley. Ellwood City senior wrestler Austin Walley collected a 195-pound championship in the 2020 Top Gun Tournament held at Alliance High School on Saturday. Walley opened up the tournament with consecutive fall victories before stretching his tournament run to the championship match with two decision victories. Walley defeated West Branch junior Kenny Marra in a 13-7 decision to take the 195-pound weight class championship. Wrestling standout and Ellwood City student-athlete Austin Walley has signed his letter of intent to wrestle at Bucknell University.  Walley signed Wednesday morning at Lincoln High School as part of NCAA Division 1 National Signing Day. Walley finished his junior season with a 36-5 overall record and finished 4th overall in the 182-pound weight class in the PIAA Class AA Wrestling Tournament held at the Hershey in March. Austin Walley placed 1st in the 170-pound class at MAC Wrestling Tournament held this weekend to lead an Ellwood City wrestling team that finished 7th out of 16 teams. Other wrestlers placing include, Donavin Chambers placed 3rd, Jake Alberts placed 3rd, Tyler Baird placed 4th, Doug Balin placed 6th, Braden Strohecker placed 7th, and Angelo Agostinelli placed 8th. Walley Presented With Plaque

Wrestling standout Austin Walley was presented a plaque during the June 3rd Wolves Club meeting. This plaque is a commemoration towards the seniors accomplishment of becoming Lincoln High School’s first ever champion in the PIAA Class 2A State Wrestling Championship. Austin Walley is a state champion. The Ellwood City senior became the first to bring home a PIAA Wrestling Championship for Lincoln High School as he a victory over Dylan Bennett of Montoursville Area HS to claim gold on Saturday. Ellwood City’s Austin Walley advanced to the PIAA Wrestling State Championships in Hershey in March by placing 1st overall in the 182-pound weight class at the Southwest Regional Championships held at IUP last weekend. Walley used a 7-4 decision victory to defeat Patrick Cutchember of Quaker Valley. On Saturday, the Ellwood City Wolverines wrestling team traveled to Rayland, Ohio for a 26-team Buckeye Local Panther Classic Wrestling Tournament. Ellwood City finished 14th as a team with Austin Walley taking 1st place in his weight class.  Rodney Grymes narrowly missed the medal stand, finishing 4th overall in his 220-pound weight class. Ellwood City senior Austin Walley placed third at 195 pounds at the annual Powerade Wrestling Tournament at Canon McMillan High School. Walley used victories in his first three matches to advance to the semifinals on Saturday, only to suffer his only loss early by way of a major decision to Nicholas Feldman of Malvern Prep.
