The Ellwood City Wolverine wrestling team improved to 2-0 in the Section and 2-0 Overall on Thursday with a 48-15 victory over the Beaver Bobcats. Austin Walley, a Bucknell University commit, recorded the 100th win of his career with a 22-second fall.  Also winning for Ellwood were Ben Gallenz, Matt King, Damon Bumgadner, Michael Swesey, Antonio Perez, Billy D’Zio, and Rodney Grymes. Walley Takes 4th Place At PIAA Wrestling Tournament

Ellwood City junior wrestler Austin Walley finished 4th overall in the 182-pound weight class in the PIAA Class AA Wrestling Tournament held at the GIANT Center in Hershey, PA. Walley used a 10-2 decision over Kaleb Kamerer of Slippery Rock and a 9-6 decision over Hunter O’Connor of Jersey Shore Area to advance early in the tournament.  The victories set up a rematch with Bryson Miller of Freedom Area in the semifinal. Miller, however, earned his revenge earning his first victory in four tries against Walley, knocking off Walley 3-2 in an ultimate tie-breaker. It was the second time this season…


Alberts, Walley Collect MAC Wrestling Championships

Wolverine wrestlers Jake Alberts and Austin Walley collected victories and championships on Saturday at the Ed Driscoll MAC tournament at Freedom High School. Walley was also voted Most Outstanding Wrestler in the 16-team tournament. In the 120 pound Championship Jake Alberts defeated Anthony Maiure, Mars, 14-7 while Austin Walley defeated Bryson Miller, of Freedom, 3-2 in the 182 pound Championship.  Wolverine Donavin Chambers fell to Daniel Yetsick, of Ambridge, in his third place 138-pound contest, finishing fourth. The Lincoln High School graduating class of 2020 will receive their diplomas Thursday May 28th and Friday May 29th at the Sgt. Leslie H. Sabo Memorial Auditorium. Ellwood City Police Officers Make Donation Towards LHS Field Trip

Mayor Anthony Court and Lt. David Kingston representing the Ellwood City Police Officers make a donation towards an annual field trip for Lincoln High School students, Teacher Mr. Gaibis, U.S. Advanced Placement Government and Politics class. The students will be attending a Pennsylvania Supreme Court session in Philadelphia in March of 2020.  The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania is the highest court in the Commonwealth and the oldest appellate court in the nation. Wrestlers Bring Home Four Medals In Weekend Tournament

The Ellwood City Wolverines wrestling team traveled to Hermitage on December 6 and 7 to compete in the 12th Annual Hickory Invitational Tournament which featured 24 teams competing. The team brought home four medals from the event: Ben Gallenz (Riverside High School competing on the Ellwood team through a co-operative agreement), 5th place, 106 pounds; Ryan Nazari, 8th place, 138 pounds; Austin Walley, first place, 195 pounds; and Rodney Grymes, 7th place, 220 pounds. Lincoln High School will celebrate its 63rd annual Homecoming on Friday, September 27th, as the Wolverines face the Western Beaver Golden Beavers in varsity football action. Ellwood Wrestler Representing Team Pennsylvania

Lincoln High School wrestler Austin Walley recently finished third in both the Freestyle and Greco-Roman Pennsylvania/USA Wrestling State Championships held at Central Mountain High School in Lock Haven. His performance qualified him to compete at the US Marine Corps/USAW Junior National Championships for the third straight year.  The tournament will be held July 12-19 in Fargo, North Dekoda.  Walley will also represent Team Pennsylvania at the USA Wrestling Junior National Duals in Tulsa, Oklahoma June 18-22.

The 2019 Lincoln High School Prom “A World of Adventure” will take place on Friday, May 3, 2019, at Seven Oaks CC, in Beaver Pa followed by the traditional Ellwood City After Prom in Ellwood City. Two Ellwood City Wrestlers Advance to PIAA State Championships

Two Ellwood City wrestlers have advanced to Hershey PIAA State AA Wrestling Championships.  Austin Walley collected a PIAA Class AA Southwest Regional runner up finish in the 182-pound weight class while fellow Wolverine Donavin Chambers placed 4th in his 132-pound weight class. Walley (33-3) earned an impressive come-from-behind victory over No. 2 Derek Yingling of West Branch in the semifinals to set-up a rematch with Mount Pleasant’s Dayton Pitzer in the 182-pound championship.  Pitzer had defeated Walley one week early in the WPIAL Individual Wrestling Tournament.
