Ellwood City has qualified for the WPIAL playoffs for the first time since 2011. The #14 seeded Wolverines will travel to face the #3 seeded Washington Prexies on Friday at 7:00 PM at Washington High School Stadium. Kick off is 7:00 p.m. for the opening round contest. Tickets for Ellwood City Football playoff game are available on GoFan.co Cost of tickets will be $5.00 for Student and $7.00 for Adults on the GoFan.co website. Tickets will also be sold at the gate. Ellwood City Boys Basketball team’s opening round playoff game will be on Monday, February 20th at Deer Lake High School at 7:00 p.m. The Wolverines (15-7 Overall) drew a 12-seed as the fourth team from Section 1 Class 3A and will face a 5-seed Deer Lakes team (13-8 Overall, 10-2 Section 3) that tied for its section crown with Shady Side Academy. Wolverines Connect On 14 3-Pointers, Cruise To 72-42 Opening Round Victory

Ellwood City came out firing from deep Monday night as they easily ousted visiting Summit Academy 72-42 in the opening round of the WPIAL Class-3A Playoffs Monday night. The Wolverines finished with 14 3-pointers in the contest, including five in a 23-point first quarter outburst. Ellwood City led by a dozen after the first quarter and never looked back. The “Path To The Pete” starts Monday for the Ellwood City boys basketball team as the WPIAL Class-3A Playoffs are set to begin. The Wolverines earned a #1 seed after its 20-2 regular season. The team went undefeated in section play. RHS Girls Soccer Collects Opening Round Victory, Await #1 Greensburg C.C.

The Riverside girls soccer team vanquished some past playoff exits on Saturday, collecting an opening round victory over Winchester Thurston to advance to WPIAL Class A quarterfinals. After four straight first round exits, the Lady Panthers scored a 8-4 victory and have advanced to play #1 Greensburg Central Catholic on Wednesday. The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team defeated Mohawk in straight sets (3-0) Tuesday evening on their senior night at Lincoln High School gymnasium. The girls ousted the visiting Warriors 25-13, 25-6, and 25-12 to earn their ninth victory of the regular season.
