Reisinger Helps Lead Pioneers; Volleyball Coach Nets 400th Victory

Rob Snyder won his 400th career game as coach of the Butler County Community College volleyball team Monday night as the Pioneers swept Penn State-Beaver at BC3’s Field House. Breanna Reisinger, a freshman outside hitter and graduate of Lincoln High in Ellwood City, led the Pioneers with four aces and added seven kills against the Nittany Lions. “Rob,” Reisinger said, “was very quiet about this. ROUND-UP: Clean Sweep For Ellwood City Sports On Thursday

Ellwood City posted a clean sweep Thursday afternoon with girls tennis, co-ed golf, and volleyball all collecting victories. The Ellwood City Girls Tennis Team defeated Beaver Falls 5-0 to even their record to 1-1 on the season.  Maddy McCommons (6-1, 6-0) and Rylea Heitzenrater (6-0, 6-0) collected singles victories. Olivia Andrew and Savannah Holsinger (6-0, 6-0) posted a victory in doubles. Two forfeits aided the Wolverines victory. Ellwood City & Riverside Girls Volleyball Seasons Underway

Both local girls volleyball teams have started their respective regular season campaigns this month. Ellwood City has seen significant gains in its short program history while the Riverside girls are starting their own journey with the launch of their volleyball program. For the Wolverines, their volleyball program has ascended to new levels over the past few years. After reaching the WPIAL quarterfinals (and losing to North Catholic) in 2019, Ellwood City broke through for its first semifinal win and championship match appearance last year. Proclamation Presented to EC Girls Volleyball Team

Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a proclamation to the Ellwood City girls volleyball team, remarking on the team’s outstanding accomplishments. The team finished with a 17-1 overall record earning a Class 2A, Section 1 championship and WPIAL Finals appearance. “Proud of this special group on an outstanding season!” said Mayor Court in a statement. “Congratulations girls!” The Wolverines were ousted by North Catholic 3-1 in the WPIAL Class 2A championship November 7 at Fox Chapel, suffering their lone defeat of the season. Girls Volleyball Team Advances To WPIAL Championship

EC Volleyball Defeats Shenango, Wins MAC Conference

The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball Team are conference champions! The Lady Wolverines defeated Shenango 3-1 Thursday evening, extending their unbeaten season (12-0 overall) and clinching its MAC Conference Championship. “It feels so great to be undefeated section champs, especially when we know we had to battle for some of those matches,” said head coach Jenna Ricciuti. Ellwood City Volleyball Defeats Freedom on Senior Night

The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team easily dispatched Freedom Tuesday evening to remain undefeated on its season. The girls defeated the visiting Bulldogs (1-8 overall) in straight sets, 25-12, 25-8, and 25-8 to earn its eleventh victory of the season. The victory came on senior night for the girls volleyball team.  The EC junior varsity team also collected a straight set victory (25-11, 25-13) to bring its record to 7-4 on the season. Sesti Leads EC Golf; EC Volleyball & Cross Country Remain Undefeated

Milo Sesti led the Ellwood City boys golf team to victory on Tuesday while the Ellwood City girls volleyball team and the Ellwood City co-ed cross country team were each victorious and both remain unbeaten. For the boys golf team, the 198-225 victory over Shenango at Delmar Golf Course was led by Sesti’s round of 36. Joining Sesti in the 30’s was Joey Hudson who finished with a round of 39 for the Wolverines. The Ellwood City Girls Varsity tennis team came away with a 4-1 victory over rival Riverside on Monday. The visiting Wolverines used strong efforts by Maddy McCommons in singles play and Cassidy Navolio and Anna Williams in doubles to earn the victory. Ellwood City Girls Volleyball Team Collects Two Victories

The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team collected two victories this week with a victory over Laurel on Monday and a second, resounding victory over New Brighton on Tuesday. On Monday, the girls team survived a second set scare from the Spartans, but were able to dispatch Laurel in straight sets, 25-14, 27-25, and 25-20. On Tuesday, the girls team easily dispatched New Brighton in straight sets, 25-17, 25-15, and 25-8 at Lincoln High School.  Junior varsity also collected straight set victories over the Lions, 25-10 and 25-11.
