Riverside Baseball, Softball Teams Each Collect Victories

The Riverside baseball and softball made quick work of opponents on Wednesday, each earning mercy-rule victories. The Panthers baseball team took to the road and shut-out Beaver Falls 16-0 in four innings. Hunter Garvin smashed a three-run homerun as part of a six run offensive onslaught in the second inning. Ashton Schlosser earned the win for Riverside on the mound. The southpaw allowed only one hit across his three innings of shutout baseball. Ellwood City and Riverside softball seasons are underway. Each team will look to return to their respective WPIAL class playoffs. Nine starters are back for Ellwood City and head coach Gary Rozanski is looking to improve in all aspects of the game. Williams Accepts Softball Scholarship With Fairmont State University

Last week, Riverside senior shortstop Mia Williams signed to continue her athletic career at Fairmont State University. Williams has started and lettered the past three years of varsity softball and has been named the Beaver County Times Athlete of the Week. As a junior, Williams doubled and collected three RBIs to help lead the Lady Panthers to the quarterfinals of the WPIAL Playoffs for the first since 2013. Lady Panthers Defeat Hopewell Thanks To Sixth Inning Boost

The Riverside Lady Panthers scored eight runs in the sixth inning on its way to a 12-1 victory over Hopewell on Wednesday. Prior to the game four Panther seniors – Madison Fryer, Sam Rosenberger, Braley Zappia, and Aliya Ottaviani – were recognized as part of the Senior Night festivities. The Lady Panthers rallied late to tie things up in the seventh and won it in the eighth on a clutch two out, two strike single by Aliya Ottaviani. Senior Samantha Rosenberger swatted a solo home run at the plate and struck out 15 Freedom Bulldogs on the mound Wednesday as the Lady Panthers defeated Freedom 8-4. Riverside raced out to an 8-0 advantage before the host Bulldogs gathered four runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning. Rosenberger Signs With Barry University

Riverside Panther standout student-athlete Samantha Rosenberger has officially signed her letter of intent to play Division II softball with Barry University, in Miami, Florida. Rosenberger has received a full academic and athletic scholarship and is pictured signing her paperwork last Friday, November 18th at Riverside High School Rosenberger is a 1B/LHP senior captain for the Lady Panthers Varsity Softball team.
