Riverside Senior Shines But Misses Cut For U.S. Junior Amateur Golf Championship

Justin Hand, a soon-to-be-senior at Riverside High School, finished with a second-round 77 last Tuesday, missing the cut after his first two rounds (76+77=153) at the 2019 US Junior Amateur Championship. Hand had qualified for the tournament after finishing first in a field of 46 golfers at a sectional qualifier held in June at Grove City Country Club. Three players finished -4 to top the leaderboard after two days. NORTH SEWICKLEY TWP – At their annual scholarship dinner on May 22, at the Connoquenessing Country Club, the Wolves Club Den II members, gathered to celebrate the awarding of $15,740 in scholarships to a total of ten Lincoln and Riverside seniors to help fund their college education. Riverside Superintendent Set To Step Down

Riverside’s current superintendent, Dr. Dave Anney, will be serving his last day on June 28th. This announcement was made during Riverside’s school board meeting on Monday, April 15. “The best part of being an administrator is when you have the chance to help someone in some way and then you eventually see them turn into productive and responsible adults,” said Dr. Anney. Potential New Drug Testing Policy At Riverside

On Monday, the Riverside community gathered in the Riverside High School cafeteria for an Informational Night for parents. The topic of discussion was Riverside’s possible new Drug Testing Policy. Parents with children in all grades came out to give their opinion on the subject at matter, and while some seemed to support it, the rest had more questions rather than support. The policy would target Riverside students in grades 7 through 12. VIDEO: Students Coming Together To Show Strength In Unity

Normally when the Panthers and the Wolverines are in one gym you can cut the tension with a knife, however not last week. On Friday, both schools came together in honor of the late Kaitlyn “Kait” Francis who had passed away January 28. Francis was an Ellwood City senior who lost her battle with cancer after being diagnosed back in elementary school.
