Riverside School District March Meeting Brief

On Monday, March 18, the Riverside Board of School Directors sat down for their March voting meeting. The following motions were passed.

For Finance/Tax Advisory/Food Service, the Treasurer’s Report, the Payment of Bills, the Cafeteria Report and Bills, the Activity Fund Report, the Budget Transfers, the Tax Reminders, the BVIU Budget for 2019-2020, the Bids for Waste Disposal, and the Sale of Property from Repository of Unsold Property were all approved/passed.

In Student Commendations, the following students were highlighted for their accomplishments: the February top five Accelerated Reader point earners, the Riverside Middle School Student of the Month Recipients, the Riverside Boys Swim Team members that have qualified for PIAA State
competition, the students who collectively came in First Place at the Lawrence County School to Work Engineering Days competition, the five Riverside Middle School students who brought home trophies for the Annual Beaver County MATH 24 competition at Penn State Beaver, senior Shannon Stover who was awarded a $500 Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship, and the opening of Panther Perk.

During the meeting, congratulations for Cafeteria staff member Lamonica Ziegler for being selected as a 2019 Pennsylvania School Breakfast Hero by the No Kid Hungry Campaign was included in the Staff Commendations. Along with Ziegler’s congratulations, Released Time/Field Trips, the resignation of Melissa Gretch, the Employment of Classroom Assistant Tomianne Anderson, the employment of coaches for the 2019-2020 fall and winter season, the employment of Miranda Frazer as a support staff substitutes for the 2018-2019 school year, and Preston Sheridan to be a
volunteer Track coach for the 2018-2019 spring sports season was approved.

Riverside Elementary being recognized as an official Best Buddies Chapter was highlighted as well as the Ellwood Area 24th Annual Community Easter Egg hunt and the Ellwood City Farmers’ Market were approved for distribution of materials.
