REMINDER: Mayor Court Beautification Award Nominations Underway

Mayor Anthony J. Court will once again be doing beautification awards for Ellwood City. Nominations are now being accepted by dropping the request off at the Mayor’s office in the Municipal Building on Lawrence Avenue or by calling Mayor Court at 724-824-7629. Nominations will be accepted beginning May 10, 2023 and program will end on the 1st of August. Louise Carroll Receives Proclamation From Mayor Court

Mayor Anthony J. Court proclaimed Saturday, April 29, 2023 as Louise Carroll day in Ellwood City. The mayor, along with Council President George Celli, presented a proclamation in her honor celebrating her 90th Birthday. Louise is a prominent writer for the Ellwood City Ledger that highlights different citizens of our community. Mayor Court’s Beautification Awards Set To Begin

Ready, Set, Spring! Mayor Anthony J. Court will once again be doing beautification awards for Ellwood City. This is the 14th year of this successful program. There will be six winners and each will be awarded a gift certificate from a local restaurant and yard sign to display. Commendation Presented To Roberta Page

A commendation was presented to Roberta Page by Mayor Anthony J. Court and Council President George J. Celli at a recent council meeting. Roberta has been picking up debris and trash along Wampum Avenue and Veterans Bridge for a few months. “It’s these kind of acts that make our community special. Mayor: “Saturation” Program to Target Unruly Motorists

Mayor Anthony Court announced during Monday’s Borough Council meeting that a “Saturation” program for motor vehicles will be launching in the borough. Not only will the Ellwood City Police Department be ticketing motorists for speeding, but there will also be stops and possible consequences for other violations including such actions as not using turn signals, driving with expired inspections, reckless and erratic driving and other violations of the Pennsylvania motor vehicle codes. Ellwood City Decorated with Signs & Teal Ribbons For SAAM Day of Action

Mayor Anthony J. Court, Ellwood City Council and the Ellwood City Police Department joined forces with ARISE, formerly the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County, on Tuesday, April 4th to recognize SAAM Day of Action. The first Tuesday of every April is the Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) Day of Action. The Day of Action is an opportunity to start off the month with highly visible and coordinated actions. Mayor Court Warns Against Excessive Speeding

Mayor Anthony J. Court has issued a statement regarding excessive amount of speeding throughout the Ellwood City Borough. According to the mayor’s office, Court has made Ellwood City Police Department officers aware of the situation and has noted that the speeding will not be tolerated. “This excessive speeding has led to law enforcement to crack down against speeding,” says Court. “The message is quite clear to please slow down!” According to the information made available by the mayor’s office, speed traps will be conducted in the very near future. Officer Howard Sworn In To The Ellwood City Police Department

Mayor Anthony J. Court swore in Officer Joseph Howard into the Ellwood City Police Department this week. The new officer was sworn in at Mayor Court’s office on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. Officer Howard is a part-time officer with the department.  A motion to approve his employment was passed the Ellwood City Borough Council during its November council meeting. Mayor Court proudly welcomed Officer Howard to the police force and noted that he is looking forward to working with him. The Ellwood City Police Department now has 11 full-time officers and 3 part-time officers in the department.

Mayor Anthony J. Court enjoyed the Halloween festivities held in Ellwood City last month. Mayor Court, along with some Ellwood City Police officers, rode in the parade, held on Saturday, October 22nd, and gave out candy to the kids. On Trick or Treat night, Monday, October 31st, the Mayor along with the police officers and fire department rode around Ellwood City meeting with the kids and giving them treats. REMINDER — VOTE NOW! ARISE Kicks Off Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Mayor Anthony J. Court and Sgt. Michael McBride helped Jessica Mudger, Outreach Specialist for ARISE get the month long awareness program started in the borough. Lawrence County ARISE placed purple bows and signs throughout the Ellwood City downtown area in observance of the cause. The Ellwood City Police Department will also be wearing purple ribbon pins on their uniforms throughout the month.
