Ellwood City Routs Laurel In 72nd Little League Tournament Behind Weisz, Nardone

Ellwood City downed Laurel 13-4 Tuesday night in the 72nd Ellwood City Little League Tournament at Freidhoff Field. Ellwood City broke open a close contest with a seven-run outburst in the fourth inning to pull away from Laurel. Anderson Weisz led Ellwood City with a home run, double, and single and Joey Nardone added a double and two singles. Elwood City opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first inning. Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation Opening Day POSTPONED

UPDATED April 21st 11:32 a.m. — The opening day parade and ceremony has been postponed untiled next Saturday, April 29th due to weather forecasts. The schedule of events will remain the same Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation (ECABF) will hold its opening day ceremony on Saturday April 22nd. A parade will start at approximately 9:00 a.m. at the Old Ewing Park School field and head to Freidhoff Field where games will follow the ceremony and introduce all the teams. Ellwood City’s Gino Biondi won the 21st Ellwood City Little League Tournament Home Run Derby. Biondi belted nine home runs to win the competition. Liam Connelly of West View/Ross Township and Tim McElhaney tied for second place with six home runs. Cam Mills of Ellwood City and Kaden Troung of West View/Ross Township smacked five home runs. Laurel Shuts Out Ellwood City In 71st Little League Tournament

Laurel defeated Ellwood City, 10-0, in the nightcap Thursday in the 71st Ellwood City Little League Tournament at Freidhoff Field. Braydon Faulkner rapped three singles with five RBI and was the winning pitcher with three hitless innings. Laurel opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Jack Brest led off with a double and Memphis McDonaugh followed with a single. Faulkner singled scoring Brest to give Laurel a 1-0 lead. 71st Ellwood City Little League Tournament Classic Begins Monday

The 71st Ellwood City Little League Tournament Classic will begin on Monday, July 25 at Freidhoff Field in the Ewing Park Baseball Complex. The tournament, which began in 1952, is the second oldest Little League tournament in the nation next to the Little League World Series which celebrates its’ 75th tournament this season. Eight teams will compete for the title in the double-elimination tournament. The tournament field is as follows: Ellwood City, West View/Ross, New Castle, Shaler, Laurel, Neshannock, Central Valley and Shenango. BATTER UP! The 70th Ellwood City Little League Tournament will begin on Tuesday night at Freidhoff Field. The tournament, which began in 1952, is the second oldest Little League tournament in the country next to the Little League World Series which is in its’ 74th season. Jordan Keller powered Ellwood City to a 10-8 victory over Riverside Saturday night, helping EC claim its championship in the 69th Ellwood City Little League Tournament.
