Officer Robert Bird received a commendation from Mayor Anthony J. Court for his heroic acts that saved a man’s life. Officer Bird was dispatched to a vehicle that crashed into a residence on Orchard Avenue in Ellwood City last week. Upon arrival he encountered a truck that caught fire. The driver of which was trapped inside suffering from a medical emergency. Club Hope Foundation Receives $800.00 Donation

On December 16th, 2021 Mayor Anthony J. Court and Officers from Ellwood City Police Department presented Cara Atkinson, the founder of Club Hope, with $800.00. The money was donated to the Officers for their participation in “No Shave November”. Officers are hoping to make “No Shave November” an annual event so that they are able to raise money for Club Hope Foundation. POLICE: Ellwood Police Seeking Uni-Mart Robbery Suspect

According to the Ellwood City Police Department Facebook account (@EllwoodCityPD), the police are seeking the public’s assistance with identifying a suspect wanted for an armed robbery, which occurred on Monday morning, March 9, 2020, at approximately 5:00 a.m. The suspect entered the Uni-Mart Convenience Store located at the intersection of Sixth Street and Beaver / Factory Avenue’s in Ellwood City and forced the clerk to open the cash register. Ellwood City Council Hires Home Blood Services Company to Test DUI Suspects

Ellwood City Council voted to implement an agreement for services for blood toxicology testing following DUI arrests. Monday night council voted unanimously to hire Becky’s Home Blood Services at a rate of $50 per venipuncture. The move comes after the closing of the Ellwood City Medical Center. Since the closing of the hospital, local officers were forced to travel at least 30 minutes to area facilities for the DUI testing. Ellwood to Join Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT)

In a 5-2 vote, Council decided that Ellwood City would join Lawrence County’s Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT). The two “no” votes came from Councilman George Celli and Councilman James Barry. This is the second time CIRT participation was up for a vote in council. On June 17 council had a 5-2 vote of no. At that time Councilwomen Marilyn Mancini and Michele Lamenza were the only members who voted to participate. POLICE: $1,000 Television Stolen From Women’s Home

$1,000 Television Stolen From Women’s Home.  On Sunday, February 24 at 10:52 p.m. Ellwood City police reported to an address on Fourth Street that was found to be the residence of Ashley Hall-Worrell. Worrell claimed that when she came home, she noticed the window on the south side wall of her living room had been removed and her 55 inch Samsung television had been taken from the wall. The television costs around $1,000. The Search Is On, Police Reporting Up To 25 Vehicle Break-Ins

From Sunday, December 8 and into Monday, December 9, there had been a reported 10 incidents of vehicles being broken into in Ellwood City. As of today, however, police say there has been between 20-25 break-ins. The thief or thieves have taken anywhere between $200 and $2 worth of items and change in each report. These break-ins have been happening in the following areas: Meadowridge Drive, Skyline Drive, Aetna Drive, and York Street. Man Found Guilty Of Maliciously Loitering On Tuesday, November 13 at approximately 4:00am, Pennsylvania State Police were called to Ellwood Road in Wayne Township with complaints of two males fighting in a white vehicle that was parked outside the complaints home.
