Lawrence Pasquale, 91 of Townwood Rd., North Sewickley Township passed away at the Ellwood City Medical Center on Monday, November 13, 2017. Born in Ellwood City on June 9, 1926 Lawrence was the son on the late Guiseppe and Maria Purinna Pasquale.  He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Theressa Piacesi on April 1, 1983.  Lawrence retired from the Ellwood Works of US Steel where he worked in the foundry.  After US Steel closed he worked at the B&W.  Lawrence also helped construct both the Zelienople Community Mausoleum and the Slippery Rock Cemetery Mausoleum.  He was a…

Alan H. Bargebuhr, 83, formerly of South Hills passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Jefferson Medical Center in Clairton. Born December 22, 1933 in New York City, he was the son of the late Herbert and Jeanette Aron Bargebuhr. Alan retired as the District Director of the Pennsylvania Public Welfare Office in McKeesport. He was a Veteran of the Army and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Survivors include a daughter, Rachel J. Bargebuhr of Ellwood City and his best friend, Georgia Stuart of Whitehall. Living Treasures Showcases Baby Giraffe

Yesterday, Living Treasures Wild Animal Park updated their Facebook page with a lengthy post about the birth of their newest addition, a baby giraffe! The giraffe, who has yet to be named, was born on Sunday, August 27th at 5:31 p.m., weighed in at 145lbs and stood 6’3 feet tall. He is the son of two other resident giraffes at the facility, Levi and Blue Jeans. Both Levi and Blue Jeans are five-year-old first time parents. Mr. John Albert Manzetti, 93, of Franklin Twp. passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Heritage Valley Medical Center. Mr. Samuel J. Santillo, 94, of Ellwood City passed away on Sunday, August 6,2017  under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice at the Heritage Valley Medical Center, in Beaver, Pa. Samuel was born on July 12, 1923 in Ellwood City to the late Antonio and Catherine Carofino Santillo. Sam attended Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, Pa. As a child Sam worked as a golf Caddie at the Connoquenessing Country Club and played ice hockey on the frozen ponds and rivers of the local area. Fundraising for Local High School Student in Pool Accident

Anthony Tollari is a high school student at Riverside who was in a pool-related accident nearly two weeks ago that has left him partially paralyzed. “After a Colt League Championship baseball defeat, Anthony was at his home, and dove into his pool. He landed extremely awkward, and broke his neck. He was rushed to the hospital, and had to have emergency surgery to save his life. Anthony is now in a facility for at least two months to attempt to regain his feeling and mobility,” his GoFundMe page states. Ellwood City “Revivalization”

Over thirty youth enjoyed a program on yoga presented Tuesday evening by Ashley Smith, a yoga instructor from Ellwood City, as part of the enrichment component added to the youth’s daily arts and crafts projects supervised by Joseph Cioffi. They were given information on the subject and then eagerly participated in several poses such as the Shavasana pose (pictured).
