Senator Vogel Continues Push for Telemedicine Initiatives in Pennsylvania

Technology can help overcome the barriers to quality patient care created by distance and reduce the costs of those services, according to Senator Elder Vogel (R-Beaver), the author of legislation aimed at promoting telemedicine in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Ann Ferruchie, 92, formerly of Ellwood City passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Banner Medical Center in Casa Grande, Arizona. Mrs. Ferruchie was born on September 12, 1924 in Ellwood City to the late Frank and Anna Zollum Tukalo. Ann had attended Lincoln High School, and is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish. John A. Calabria, 87, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully at the Community Living Center at the VA Medical Center in Butler, on Sunday afternoon, June 11 20017. He was born in  Sabraton WV  on September 29 1929, to the late Angelo Mario “Charley” Calabria, and the late Mary Elena Rocco  Calabria. He graduated from New Castle High School in 1948. Lincoln High Student Receives $1,000 McDonald’s Scholarship

ELLWOOD CITY, PA (June 7, 2017) – McDonald’s of Ellwood City and the Beaver County Foundation are pleased to announce that Dominic Nocera of Lincoln High School is the recipient of the 2017 Dom Viccari-McDonald’s of Ellwood City Scholarship. Dominic Nocera, a 2017 graduate of Lincoln High School, Ellwood City was awarded the second Tommy Novosel Scholarship at a service on May 28th at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish in Ellwood City. Dominic was a member of the National Honor Society, Peer Leadership, Student Council and Club Hope. He was an altar server at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and a volunteer for the Carpenter’s Project. His future studies will be in Biomedical Engineering – Prosthetics. Ellwood City Woman Most Senior of BC3’s Largest Class Since 2000

(Butler, PA) An Ellwood City grandmother of three was the most senior of the 596 graduates in Butler County Community College’s Class of 2017. Kathie Potemra, 63, of Park Avenue, earned an associate of applied science degree in office administration-medical from BC3. She attended BC3 at Lawrence Crossing in New Castle, BC3’s main campus and took courses online. Potemra, BC3’s most senior graduate by 327 days, says “you can never get enough education.” The 1972 graduate of Shenango High School also earned an associate degree in information management from Youngstown State University in 1997. NORTH SEWICKLEY TWP. –The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II, through their scholarship program, continues to honor the achievements of outstanding Lincoln and Riverside High School seniors by encouraging them to pursue their dreams through higher education. Joan M. Brommer, 70

Joan M. Brommer, 70, of Meadville (formerly of New Castle) passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Geauga Medical Center in Chardon, Ohio following an illness. Born December 29, 1946 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Margaret Jeanette Scott Porada. She was married on June 24, 1978 to Donald E. Brommer who passed away April 26, 2016. Joan enjoyed gardening and canning her vegetables. She also enjoyed camping and fishing. Her most cherished time was spent with her late husband and their family especially their grandchildren.
