Local Student Graduates From Mortuary Institute

Ms. Carmella Marie Teolis recently graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. She is the daughter of Samuel A. and Michele Teolis, granddaughter of Samuel Teolis and Don and Toni Rutter. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 2014, after which she attended the Butler County Community College for one year. After BC3, Carmella graduated from the Pittsburgh Technical College with high honors earning a degree in Applied Sciences and Office Administration along with becoming a certified Professional Medical Coder. ECMC Gives Back to the Community

The Ellwood City Medical Center, and its dedicated employees and physicians, continue to support and give back to the community. A food drive was conducted within the hospital during the month of July.  Employees and physicians worked together to make this project a huge success!  Together they collected 9 boxes of food and $150.00. During the month of August, employees and physicians donated school supplies.  The hospital was able to donate a large box of school supplies to the Riverside and Ellwood City school districts and also to the local Food Bank.  They also collected an additional $60 to buy…

Donald Merle Spiker, 86, of Franklin Twp. passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at the Ellwood City Medical Center following a brief illness. Born July 4, 1932 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Harvey and Mary McConnell Spiker. He was married to Mary Hutchison Spiker for 64 years when she passed away January 14, 2018. Don retired in 1989 from AT&T where he had been a Communications Tech for 20 years. He was a member and former Sunday School teacher at the Free Methodist Church. The Carpenters Project Pasta Dinner

The Carpenter’s Project is sponsoring a pasta dinner on Saturday, Aug 25 at Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church. There will be two seating’s:  4:30 pm and 6:45 pm and the dinner will be prepared by Geoff Straub, executive chef of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Richard G. Loccisano, 84, of Ellwood City, passed away in the ER of the Ellwood City Medical Center on Saturday July 28, 2018. Born in Ellwood City on May 5, 1934, Richard was the son of the late Nicholas and Bettina Giancotti Loccisano.  Richard was preceded in death by his wife, the former Virginia “Ginger” Catroppa on April 13, 2016.  They were married on April 25, 1954.  Working in the family business started by his mother in 1916, Richard owned and operated Loccisano Brother’s Grocery Store for over 60 years.  He was still active in the store operation.  Richard was…

Peggy Kay Osborne, 69, of Portersville, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Ellwood City Medical Center. Peggy was born on July 4, 1949 in Ellwood City to the late Harold A. “Jake and Jane L. (New Castle) BC3 @ Lawrence Crossing has become the first of Butler County Community College’s five additional sites to offer associate of applied science degree programs in office administration-medical and in accounting, and the second in office administration-executive – career programs that will allow students to develop skills needed to enter the workforce immediately after graduation. Students completing an associate degree in office administration-medical can work as secretaries or administrative assistants in a medical environment.
