Louis W. “Macy” Miller, 91, of Wampum passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024 at UPMC – Jameson Hospital following a brief illness. Born June 21, 1933 in Wampum, he was the son of the late Frank Sr. and Bertha Toth Miller. He was married to Carol A. Mohr Miller. Macy retired in June 1995 from Medusa where he worked as a mechanic. Catholic by faith, Macy was a Veteran of the Army serving in Korea. He enjoyed fishing and watching the trains behind his house. Dorothy I. Boots, 85, of West Pittsburg passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at her residence. Born December 31, 1938 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. Sr. and Blanche Irene Mason Wiley. Dorothy had worked at Hillview Manor in the dietary department. Ruth Middleton, 76, of Koppel passed away Friday, July 26, 2024 at Heritage Valley Sewickley. Born February 19, 1948 in Brown City, MI, she was the daughter of the late Hazen G. and Minnie L. Robinson London. She was married to Allen Middleton when he passed away in 2005. During Ruth’s working years, she was employed as a nurse’s aide in home health care. Mrs. Mary Scialdone, 92, of Ellwood City passed away on Monday, July 29th,2024 at her residence. Mrs. Scialdone was born in Forestville, PA on August 4th, 1931 to the late Philip and Frances F. (Ferrell) Labor. She had worked at the Ellwood City Knitting Mill and later as a crossing guard for the Ellwood City Area School District for 22 years. Catherine “Kay” Thompson, 101, of Ellwood City passed away Monday, July 29, 2024 at Northview Estates. Born August 19, 1922 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Esther Cora Shaffer Marshall. She was married to Robert G. Thompson for 59 years. Catherine graduated from Lincoln High School in 1940. “Though she be but little, she is fierce.” On July 18, 2024, Winifred Yvonne Goatley Daniel departed this life at the home of her daughter after a short illness. Born in Chewton, PA August 20, 1937 to William and Imogene Goatley, she graduated from Wampum High School (’55) and Central State University (BA ’60).
