James Melzer, 92, of Shenango Twp. passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026 at his residence following a brief illness.
Born May 9, 1934 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Alfred and Elizabeth Melzer.
James was a deeply religious man and a longtime member of Church of God Independent Ministries in Medina Ohio. He was actively involved in the church where he served as an Elder and was an integral part of their media ministry. He worked in construction as a crew leader for Ram Beaver County and was a proud US Army Veteran. In his free time, he enjoyed working in his garden and fruit orchard and building with his hands.
Survivors include his beloved wife Evelyn “Ginger” Young Melzer; daughter, Terry (Robert) Balsamo of Scottsdale, AZ; son, James “Jay” (Debra) Melzer of Everett, PA, and sister, Dorothy “Dot” Mraz of Georgia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Gladys Green and Loretta and his brother Bob Melzer.
Interment was in Locust Grove Cemetery.
