Glenys Nicholas Haine, age 89, of Kissimmee, Florida, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Her parents immigrated to America from a small coal-mining village in Penrhiwceiber, South Wales. (1921)   They settled in the small town of Ellwood City in Western Pennsylvania. It was there that Glenys was born on June 21, 1930.  Glenys attended West End Elementary, Hartman Junior High and graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, in 1948.  She was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, and also a member of their church choir.  She always said one of her favorite memories,…

Sarah A. (Crespo) Olayer McCready, 93, of New Beaver Boro passed away surrounded by her loving family Monday, October 21, 2019 at her home following a short illness. Born January 1, 1926 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late John and Marie (Moran) Crespo . She was married to Joseph Olayer who died November 6, 1983 and then S. Wells McCready who died July 2, 2007. Sarah was a homemaker and caretaker for the elderly. Ruth M. Baker, 99, of Denny Schill Manor, Ellwood City passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Northview Estates following a brief illness. Born March 20, 1920 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Lake Stewart and Dorothea (Donnan) MacNab. She was married to Robert M. Baker who passed away in 1981. Ruth, along with her husband, owned and operated the North Side Market and the Newton General Store for many years. She graduated from New Castle High School and Westminster College. Robert J. Altman, 82, of New Beaver Boro passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 19, 2019 in the Emergency Room of UPMC – Jameson Hospital in New Castle. Born May 28, 1937 in Cabot, Butler County, he was the son of the late Mont C.”Mike” and Leona (Bowser) Altman. He was married to Glenda L. (McDonald) Altman for 66 years when she passed away December 1, 2017. Bob retired from Medusa Cement Company following 43 years of service. Jeffrey L. Evans, 64, of Ellwood City passed away Friday, October 18, 2019 at St. John Health Care in Mars following a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 13, 1955 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late James D. and Betty Ruth (Main) Evans. Jeff was a graduate of Riverside High School, Class of 1973. David Vernon McClean, 95 years old, passed away on the early morning of Friday, October 18, 2019.  He was a long time resident of Fombell, PA and more recently resided in New Castle, PA with his son.  He died from natural causes at Carriage Manor Personal Care Home. Robert W. “Sky” King, 71, of Ellwood City passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born January 19, 1948 in Springfield, OH, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Ruth M. Shoff King. He was married to Linda King for 45 years, she survives. Madison “Ken” Main,  61, of Ellwood City, passed away unexpectedly on  October 15, 2019. Ken was born in Ellwood City on March 2, 1958 to the late Madison and Dorothy Kettler Main.  He married the former Jill Barnes, who survives at home.  Ken worked construction as well as being a cow farmer.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandson and family.
