PHOTOS: Panthers Run Away From Wolverines Late In 8-2 Victory

Riverside used late scoring outbursts to help easily dispatched Ellwood City 8-2 on Monday afternoon at Sanders Field in Ewing Park. The visiting Panthers (11-1 overall) put up four runs in the sixth and another four runs in the final frame after the Wolverines chipped into the lead. Riverside’s offense in the seventh came from singles by Drew Speicher, Ethan Ziegler, and Ben Hughes and a sac fly by Ty Thellman. Gunnar Boehm was the winning pitcher for Riverside. PHOTOS: Big Second Inning Propels Lady Wolverines To Victory Over Riverside

Two Ellwood City homers led to an eight run outburst in the second inning that propelled the Lady Wolverines past visiting Riverside 15-2 in varsity softball action. Breonna Streit, Maura Agostinelli, Makinley Magill, Anna Ferrucci, Maria Ioanilli, and Zoe Kalantzis all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.  Ellwood City added on six more runs in the third inning. Madi Krugh led things off on the rubber for the Wolverines. She allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out six. Ellwood City Jr High Softball Team is Undefeated, Riverside Varsity Baseball Team Blows Away Beaver Falls

EC JR HIGH SOFTBALL TEAM REMAINS UNDEFEATED BEATS MOHAWK 14-0 The offense started out on fire as they plated 13 runs in the first inning on Friday night at Stiefel Park. The game was halted after 5 innings as the mercy rule took effect. Kyla Servick, Kali Barnett, and Grace Balin led the charge with doubles. Blowout Victories Abound: Boehm Shines on Mound for Panthers, Garroway at Plate for Ellwood City

Two Riverside Pitchers Combine In Shutout Victory Against Avonworth Riverside Panthers defeated Avonworth 10-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Nick Ottaviani struck out Patrick Gannon to finish off the game, finishing off a phenomenal start by Riverside starter Gunner Boehm. The Panthers fired up the offense in the first inning, and scored two runs when Boehm helped his own cause with a homer. Riverside tallied four runs in the fifth inning. EC Junior High Softball Team Now 5-0 After 12-0 Victory Over Freedom

The Lady Wolverines pounded out 13 hits at Stiefel Park on Monday evening in a game halted after 5 innings by the Mercy Rule.   Aliya Garroway and Grace Balin led the offensive onslaught with 2 hits apiece. Garroway tripled and doubled while Balin tripled and singled. Jenna Vetica, Jaidyn Leviere, and Maddie Hicks each contributed doubles in the contest with Leviere’s being her first career hit at the junior high level. Riverside Varsity Pitchers Fox and Cameron Shutout Victory Against Mohawk

Riverside Panthers Varsity defeated Mohawk Area 10-0 on Monday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Danny Fox induced a groundout from Brayden Cameron to finish off the game. Riverside put up five runs in the third inning. The offensive firepower by Riverside was led by Fox, Drew Speicher, Ben Hughes  and Ty Thellman, all knocking in runs in the inning. Boehm Victorious In Pitcher’s Duel For Riverside Both teams were strong on the mound Friday, but the Riverside Panthers defeated South Side 3-1 behind the arm of Gunnar Boehm. Ellwood City Wolverines Clinches Lead in Fifth Inning to Defeat Mohawk Area Ellwood City Wolverines took the lead late in the game in a 6-4 victory over Mohawk Area on Wednesday. The game was tied at two with Ellwood City Wolverines batting in the top of the fifth when Sammy DiCaprio singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs. Another day, another mercy rule shortened victory for the Lady Wolverines. This time, Ambridge was the victim of a 13-1 five inning win at Stiefel Park.   The offense was potent once again as eight different players pounded out 10 hits on the day. PHOTOS: Four RBI Day for Mittler Leads Wolverines Rout Over Riverside

Four runs batted in from Reagan Mittler helped lead Wolverines past Riverside in a 20-5 rout on Saturday. Mittler drove in runs on a single in the first and a double in the second. The Wolverines (3-2 overall) fired up the offense in the first inning, when Anna Ferrucci singled scoring the game’s first run.  Ellwood City scored in every inning thereafter including a 9-run outburst in the second frame.
