Ellwood City Baseball Wraps Up Impressive Fall Campaign

The Ellwood City High School baseball team wrapped up an impressive fall campaign, making a run in the single elimination playoff tournament before ultimately falling to defending WPIAL Champion Hopewell last weekend. The Wolverines finished 8-4-1 earning a 3-seed in the playoff picture. Ellwood City defeated Beaver Falls and Riverside before falling 6-0 to the Vikings in the championship game. Ellwood City Girls Volleyball Victorious On Senior Night, Clinch Playoff Berth

The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team defeated Mohawk in straight sets (3-0) Tuesday evening on their senior night at Lincoln High School gymnasium. The girls ousted the visiting Warriors 25-13, 25-6, and 25-12 to earn their ninth victory of the regular season. Reisinger Leads BC3 To Record 6th Consecutive Conference Title

Butler, PA – Breanna Reisinger had 14 kills, Aslyn Pry 11 and Abby Granato 7 as the ninth-ranked Butler County Community College volleyball team won a Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference-record sixth conference championship in a row Saturday. Ellwood City Boys Claim Tri-County Cross Country Championship

The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country Team has claimed the 2021 Tri-County Championship. The Wolverines runners collected its victory in wet, soggy conditions at Shenango High School, finishing (39) and besting Shenango (64), Neshannock (81), Mohawk (88), Laurel (117),  and Riverside (129). “I am very happy with the teams performance,” said head coach Mark Hall. “I do believe they all got personal best times for the year.” The boys finished unbeaten and claimed the WPIAL Section 1-1A title, and now have won back-to-back Tri-County Championships. Sam Hughes scampered for two touchdowns to lead the Riverside Panthers to their first victory of the season, a 19-0 victory over rival Ellwood City on Friday night during Homecoming at Riverside’s Memorial Stadium. Madeline Dimeo was named Riverside Homecoming Queen during halftime. Hughes, who finished with 90 yards rushing, scored from 21 years and 19 yards while Brady Barton found the endzone on a 45 yard touchdown for the Panthers (1-4, 1-6 overall). GOLF: Greer Qualifies For PIAA Championships, Riverside Team Qualifies For WPIALs

Riverside senior Logan Greer was among the 18 golfers who qualified for PIAA Championships after his fifth place finish at the par-70 Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley, PA, during the WPIAL AA Boys Individual Final & PIAA Qualifier event. Greer fired an 8-over round of 78 (40-38) on the afternoon. Steady on the front nine with four pars and only five bogies, Greer collected his only birdie of his round with a three on the par-4 17th hole. Ellwood City Cross Country Claims Undefeated Section Championship

The Ellwood City Wolverines boys cross country team collected its final regular season victory this week, finishing its campaign a perfect 10-0 and claiming its section championship. For the Wolverines, this is their second consecutive undefeated section championship season under head coach Mark Hall. “I couldn’t be more proud of this whole team,” says Hall. Congratulations are in order for the 2021 Ellwood City Homecoming Queens, Alyssa Jeffcoat and Kyla Servick, and the Homecoming King, Alexander Roth. All parties were recognized during the Friday evening football game at Helling Stadium as part of Homecoming festivities. The host Wolverines were defeated by Neshannock 58-14. The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country team remains undefeated after its victory at Southside Beaver on Tuesday. The boys defeated opponents Shenango (21-26), Southside Beaver (15-50), and Beaver Falls (15-50).  Top runners for the Wolverines were Anthony Spadafore (2nd place, 19:31), Joel Brooks (4th place, 19:46), Colton Crizer (5th place, 20:04), Nick Wise (6th place, 20:19), and Ian Stoneking (8th place, 21:22). “All the boys ran a great race,” said head coach Mark Hall.
