Ellwood City Cross Country Claims Undefeated Section Championship

The Ellwood City Wolverines boys cross country team collected its final regular season victory this week, finishing its campaign a perfect 10-0 and claiming its section championship.

For the Wolverines, this is their second consecutive undefeated section championship season under head coach Mark Hall.

“I couldn’t be more proud of this whole team,” says Hall.

Ellwood City defeated Riverside (20-43) and Mohawk (21-34) on Tuesday.

Anthony Spadafore paced the victors with a 2nd place finish with a time of 18:55 for Ellwood City. Joel Brooks (4th place, 19:04), Colton Crizer (5th place, 19:11), Nick Wise (7th place, 19:43), and Ian Stoneking (8th place, 20:37) rounded out the Wolverine runners.

Next up for the cross country team will be MAC Championships, Tri-County, and districts.  MAC championships will be held at Settlers Cabin Park in Robinson Township on Wednesday, October 13th at 3:00, the Tri-County Championship be held at Shenango High School October 16th at 9:00 a.m., and finally the WPIAL Championships will be held October 28th at California University.
