Upcoming Ellwood City Wrestling Season Announced

Interested in wrestling? The Ellwood City Varsity and Junior High Wrestling season is starting soon! The first practice will take place on Friday, November 20, 2020, scheduled to take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Lincoln High School Cafeteria. Practices will be Monday thru Friday with optional lifting sessions three times a week at 3:10 p.m. There are temperature checks before every practice/hand sanitizer and the mats cleaned to CDC standards. There are several tournaments the team is planning to attend this season including, Panther Holiday Classic (Varsity Only), Mid-Winter Mayhem (Varsity Only), and West Mifflin Christmas Tournament….


Girls Volleyball Team Advances To WPIAL Championship

Registration Open For 25th Annual Gobbler’s Gallop On Thanksgiving

The Gobbler’s Gallop turns a quarter century. The 25th annual Gobbler’s Gallop will take place on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, at Riverside High School’s Memorial Stadium. The 10K race will start at 9:00 a.m. sharp while the 5k race will be begin at 10:15 a.m.  The event also offers a 5k for walkers that will begin at 9:0 a.m. Registration will begin at the Riverside Kindergarten Center at 8:00 a.m. for 10k and 5k walkers.  All people must wear a mask during registration and at the start of the race but not while running. EC Cross Country Team Finishes Third At WPIAL Championships

The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country team finished third overall at the WPIAL Championships this week at White Oak Park. “I am very proud of this third place finish,” said head coach Mark Hall. “This boys team work really hard all year long. All seven of them ran well. RHS Soccer Playoffs, EC Junior High Football Champs & EC Volleyball Remains Unbeaten

In a local sports round-up, the Ellwood City Junior High Football team collected Tri-County championship while the Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team remained unbeaten.  Congratulations are in order for both Riverside Panther boys and girls soccer teams as they each qualified for the WPIAL Playoffs. The Ellwood City Varsity Boys Cross Country team collected a championship in the Tri-County meet over the weekend. “My coaching staff and I are so proud of these bunch of young men they been working so hard all summer long it’s all paying off,” said head coach Mark Hall. Riverside Runs Over Rival Ellwood City, 27-12

Riverside used the ground attack to run over the host Wolverines 27-12 Friday night at Helling Stadium. Calvin Hughes led the ground attack for Riverside finishing with 169 yards rushing on 28 carries and a score while quarterback Sam Hughes scored twice on the ground and finished with 41 yards rushing for the victorious Panthers. The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball Team are conference champions! The Lady Wolverines defeated Shenango 3-1 Thursday evening, extending their unbeaten season (12-0 overall) and clinching its MAC Conference Championship. “It feels so great to be undefeated section champs, especially when we know we had to battle for some of those matches,” said head coach Jenna Ricciuti. The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team easily dispatched Freedom Tuesday evening to remain undefeated on its season. The girls defeated the visiting Bulldogs (1-8 overall) in straight sets, 25-12, 25-8, and 25-8 to earn its eleventh victory of the season. Tickets on Sale For Ellwood City/Riverside Football Game

Adult Tickets for the Ellwood City versus Riverside football game to be played on Friday, October 16th will be sold on Thursday, Oct 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the hallway by the large gymnasium at Lincoln High School. Ticket price is $5.00 and no tickets will be sold at the gate.  According to the district, masks are required and COVID-19 waiver must be signed to enter the stadium.  Social distancing will still be recommended with the limited attendance.
