EC Wrestling Shows Some Highlights In Sharpsville Duals

The Ellwood City Wrestling Team participated in the Sharpsville Walleye Duals this past week and showed some flare. The Wolverines picked up their first dual meet victory of the season with a 39-30 victory over Brockway, and finished the duals 1-4 as a team. “The kids came together as a team,” said head coach John Fleming. Ben Gallenz earned a decision victory to earn points for the the Wolverines. Pickleball To Be Offered At Ellwood City Family Center

Pickleball anyone? Come play the fastest growing sport in the nation! John DiBuono will be leading the weekly indoor sessions that begin Tuesday, January 3, 2022 at the Ellwood City Family Center from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. Pickleball will be played every Tuesday through February 28, 2022 and will be ages 12 to 100 and all skill levels. Roth Hits 1,000 Point Milestone, Wolverines Defeat Western Beaver

Joseph Roth joined rarefied air Thursday night. The 6-foot-6, 195-pound big man poured in 25 points, cresting a 1,000 career point milestone, in the Wolverines 56-45 victory over Western Beaver. Roth, who collected the 1,000th point with a bucket in the third quarter, now joins nine other Ellwood City players, including an other brother and former teammate Steve Antuono, on the list of 1,000 point scorers in Ellwood City Basketball history. Hack Wilson Historical Marker Among 36 New State Historical Markers Approved

A Hack Wilson Historical Marker is among the subjects of 36 new Pennsylvania Historical Markers approved by the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission (PHMC). The PA state marker is to be placed on State Route 65, Woodside Avenue, by Lincoln High School baseball fields. The Ellwood City Area Historical Society was instrumental in promoting Hack Wilson’s accomplishments. Lewis Robert “Hack” Wilson (1900–1948), was born in Ellwood City and was one of baseball’s greatest power hitters in the 1920s and 1930s. Ellwood City Winter Sports Tickets To Be Sold Online

Ellwood City Area School District will be slowly making the change to digital ticketing for all sports. The first round of ticketing for the Ellwood City Wolverines to be sold on-line will be for the 2022-23 Winter Sport Season. Tickets will be sold on-line at www.gofan.co or the Go Fan app. There will be no tickets sold at the school at this time. Rosenberger Signs With Barry University

Riverside Panther standout student-athlete Samantha Rosenberger has officially signed her letter of intent to play Division II softball with Barry University, in Miami, Florida. LHS Standout Softball Player, Aliya Garroway Commits to Saint Francis University

Lincoln High School Senior Aliya Garroway verbally committed to Saint Francis University of the NEC last Thursday. She will sign her National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, November 9th at Lincoln High School. SFU, located in Loretto Pa, is coached by Jessica O’Donnell. The team has won 5 consecutive NEC titles and participated in the NCAA tournament over that same span. The University is a tremendous academic institution and is also one of the top 50 Division 1 softball programs in the country.
