Del-Mar Golf Club Named Among Golfers’ Choice Top 25 Most Improved Courses

In a recent NBC GolfPass article, Del-Mar Golf Club was among 25 courses that earned national recognition as golf courses making a comeback. “It is a tremendous honor to have the NBC Golfpass community recognize the efforts we have made,” says Samuel Barry, Del-Mar Golf Course President. “Continually earning higher ratings, by our costumers, is validation that Delmar is moving in the right direction.” According to the GolfPass.com article, the 25 courses earned higher ratings in 2022 than they did in 2021. The Ellwood City girls basketball team was busy this week with three games on the schedule. The Lady Wolverines collected its lone win of the week with a non-section road victory Wednesday night over New Castle. After trailing by nine entering the final quarter, Ellwood City rallied for a thrilling 48-47 victory. Claire Noble finished with a double-double (15 points, 15 rebounds, 3 steals) to lead a well rounded offensive attack for Ellwood City. Ellwood City Bocce Making Strides, Eyeing Playoffs

The Ellwood City Bocce team is making strides according to head coach John Dibuono. The team split decisions against Butler and Seneca Valley this past week. On January 10th the Ellwood City bocce team took on Butler. Butler prevailed in the matchup three games to one. The team faced Seneca Valley on Wednesday January 18th. Local Boxer to be Featured in Fight on Showtime

Ellwood City’s prized fighter Rosalindo Morales has come a long way from stepping in the ring for the first time when he was 13 years old. This Friday he will be featured in a fight on Showtime’s Shobox: The New Generation live at 9:00 p.m. Morales will be part of three bouts that will take place at the Wind Creek Casino in Bethlehem, Pa. In the 8-round Super Featherweight bout, Morales will face Julian Gonzalez, an undefeated fighter from Reading, Pa. Riverside Rallies, Knocks Off Wolverines In Overtime

After trailing by as many as 20 points late in the third quarter, the visiting Riverside Panthers rallied to force overtime and pull away for a thrilling 50-47 victory over Ellwood City Tuesday night. Sophomore Drake Fox’s 3-pointers with under 15 seconds in regulation knotted the game. Ellwood City had led 35-15 with two and half minutes remining in the third quarter after holding a comfortable 22-12 advantage after a relatively low scoring first half. Two Junior High Wrestlers Place At Indiana Tournament

Ellwood City junior high wrestlers Brayden McClure (87-pound class) and Cheyenne Berglund (94-pound class) each placed fourth for the Wolverines in a 23-team wrestling tournament held last weekend. The team competed in the Indiana (PA) Eagles/Good & Associates Tournament on Saturday, January 14th. McClure and Berglund each reached the 3rd place match in their respective weight class in the tournament. McClure finished with a 4-2 record while Berglund finished with a 2-2 record. Brayden McClure Wins 3rd Place Medal at Junior High MAC Wrestling

Ellwood City 7th-grader Brayden McClure won a third place medal at the Junior High MAC Wrestling Tournament that was held on Friday, January 6th at Freedom High School. McClure recorded three wins by fall on his way to the championship podium in the 94-pound weight class. The Wolverines Junior High Wrestling team consists of wrestlers, McClure, Cheyene Berglund, Nathan Chandler, Jaiden Delawder, Colten Gullo, and Jordan Quintanilla. Junior Joseph Roth scored a season high 42 points Friday night as the Wolverines routed Freedom 73-39 at Lincoln High School. The big man help propel Ellwood City to an early 18-10 lead with eleven first quarter points. Roth settled in with 18 points at halftime as the Wolverine held a comfortable 32-20 advantage over the Bulldogs. The Ellwood City girls basketball team raced out to an early advantage Thursday night en route to its 54-31 Riv-Ell victory over the visiting Riverside Panthers. The Wolverines used a 20 point first quarter to jump out to an early advantage they never relinquished on their home court. Wolverines Knock Off Undefeated Warriors 71-67

The Ellwood City Wolverines boys basketball team went on the road Tuesday night and knocked off an undefeated Mohawk team in a battle of Class 3A Section 1 titans. Both teams entered the evening with nine wins, but Ellwood City used a fourth quarter rally, outscoring Mohawk 25-15, to find its way to its 10th victory of the season.
