POLICE: Traffic Stop Results in Drug Seizure From Multi-State Offender

On Monday, November 30, a traffic stop resulted in a seizure of suspected drugs and controlled substances from a multi-state offender. According to the complaint, police received information from a CI who related Jennifer Glassock, 36, of Conneaut, Ohio, was in possession of a large amounts of methamphetamine. Glasscock had an active warrant and was informed to be in the Ellwood City area operating a silver Nissan Altima with Florida registration. Mayor Court Swears In Officer Joshua Sipe

A recently hired police officer was sworn in by Mayor Anthony Court on November 30, 2020. Officer Joshua Sipe is a full-time officer. Ellwood City Police Department now has 10 full-time officers and 3 part-time officers in the department.  The new officer was sworn in at Mayor Court’s office in the Ellwood City Municipal Building. POLICE: Fatal Motorcycle Accident On Route 65

According to a Pennsylvania State police report, a man was killed in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening at approximately 6:00 p.m. on PA Route 65 (Ellwood Road) near Hogue Road in Slippery Rock Township. Through evidence located at the scene, David Sedgwick, 43, of Ellwood City, was traveling southbound on Ellwood Road when an oncoming vehicle was attempting to turn left from a private driveway located on the west side of the roadway. The following are police criminal complaints filed at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Lawrence County office of Honorable Jerry G. Cartwright. Kristy Penrod, 39, of Ellwood City, is charged with driving under the influence after a hit and run accident on September 19. According to the report, the accident took place in the area of 6th Street and Franklin Avenue and after the accident, the caller/victim related to police that after he spoke to Penrod about the accident and collected her license plate, she left the area quickly. New Castle Man Arrested In Child-Trafficking Sting Operation

A 33-year-old New Castle man is among several arrested this week in what Ohio law enforcement officials are calling “the largest anti-human trafficking bust” in state history. Jarod Mills, 33, of New Castle, is charged with felony attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, felony importuning or soliciting of an adolescent, felony possessing criminal tools, and felony displaying matter harmful to juveniles. Borough of Ellwood City Hires New Part-Time Police Officer

The Borough of Ellwood City has hired a new part-time police officer. Officer Salvador “Sal” Zepeda started his first day on the job Wednesday after being hired by Ellwood City Borough Council on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. Zepeda is the departments third part-time officer. Mayor Anthony Court and Council President George Celli swore in the new officer who started his duties this week.  According to the ECPD, Mayor Court and Council President Celli were instrumental in getting Officer Zepeda hired. Ellwood City Man Facing Child Sex Charges

The New Castle City Police Department has filed criminal charges against three individuals after an investigation into the dissemination of photographs of children. In September, the NCPD was contacted through CHILDLINE in reference to possible photographs being disseminated of two juvenile females (between ages of 11 &13). Detectives learned through the investigation that the mother of the juveniles did take numerous nude pictures and send them to a male in Ellwood City identified as David BATES (60). Dorothy Haswell, 45, of Ellwood City, is charged with Simple Assault and Harassment after an incident on Friday, September 25.  According to the criminal complaint, the victim stated that on the night prior, Haswell walked into her residence without knocking or permission around 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 24.  After a verbal confrontation Haswell jumped over the coffee table in the residence and assaulted the victim.  The victim later came to the ECPD to place her report. Fight On Loop Street: On Sepember 8 at approximately 8:42 p.m. officers were dispatched to a reported fight at Loop Street involving a knife. Upon arrival officers made contact with all parties involved and spoke with a white male with a bleeding laceration above his eye who appeared intoxicated.
