POLICE: Vehicle Accident On Lawrence Avenue Causes Damages

According to an Ellwood City Police Department report, and on Wednesday, February 3rd at approximately 11:00 p.m., a vehicle accident on Lawrence Avenue caused damages outside of a local restaurant establishment.

Ellwood City Police were dispatched to 708 Lawrence Avenue at Mike’s Main Street for a motor vehicle accident. LEOC advised that a vehicle had struck the building. Upon arrival, police located the operator of a 2020 Ford Transit Van who was identified as Donald Frelin II, 31, of Ellwood City. Frelin and his fiance, Dustie White, were in the back of the van with their 1-year-old son. Frelin and White were verbally arguing over their son. Police separated both parties and spoke with Frelin. Frelin stated that he works for Passavant Memorial Homes and he was on his way to deliver items with White and their son. The van was loaded full of various items including PPE and produce.

Frelin stated that he has been working a lot and has not slept in two days. Frelin did no appear to be under the influence of any alcohol or controlled substances. The van struck a parked vehicle causing heavy front end damage to both units. The parked vehicle was legally parked facing west on Lawrence Avenue.

The collision caused both unites to end up on the sidewalk causing damage to a light pole, a parking meter, and a tree belonging to the borough. The Ellwood City Electric Department wad contracted due to a pole being dislodged from its based. Medevac EMS arrived on scene and evaluated all parties involved, however no one was transported.
