Woman Facing Charges of Child Endangerment After Injuring Infant

A resident of Freed’s Trailer Park in New Galilee, 24 year-old Courtney Marie Jeffries, will be facing charges of simple assault and endangering the welfare of children, proceeding an incident that occurred last month involving her three month old daughter. According to the criminal complaint, the daughter of Jeffries was taken to the Ellwood City Hospital with an injury to the child’s right arm. The infant was transferred to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh UPMC and a medical personnel at the facility examined the child and diagnosed her with a fracture on her upper arm. Western Pennsylvanians will be experiencing a temperature increase following the coincidental correlation of the first day of spring and the predicted spring weather-appropriate forecast. Try-Outs for Ellwood City’s First Competitive Cheer Program

Nikki DeLuca, a local competitive gymnastic coach at Diamond Dance Academy, is excited to be bringing Ellwoodian youth their first opportunity to participate in a competitive all-star cheer program. DeLuca will be the head coach of the Ellwood City Explosion All Star Cheer. The Explosion squads will be tailored for any level youth between the ages 5-18, and the cheer group will be co-ed. Two local residents, Scott and Caroline Golmic, have a vision for the old Blocher Jewelers building, located at 507 Lawrence Ave – to turn it into an ice cream parlor. 22nd Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt

Ellwood Area Egg Hunt Committee will be holding their 22nd Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 8, in Ewing Park for all area children ages nine and under. Four and under hunts start at 11 and run till the end of the events, the five to nine year old hunts start at 1:30p.m. There will be over 7,000 Easter Eggs handed out. Lincoln High Graduate to Perform with Tamburitzans

After recently returning home from her Spring Break tour in Florida with the group, Lincoln High graduate, Alena Kucan prepares to perform with the Tamburitzans for their second presentation at Ellwood City’s Lincoln High School. The group, which formed nearly 80 years ago is a group-effort tradition consisting of an array of talented students who continually aw crowds with their unique and culturally diverse performances.
