Council- Volleyball Lights Raise Question of Park Hours

At Monday’s Ellwood City Borough council agenda meeting, council member George Celli questioned a motion to purchase an LED lightning package for the volleyball court in Ewing Park at a cost of $9,068.98. Celli felt it was unwise to install lights for one court without considering the costs of installing lights for other amenities, such as the tennis court and skateboard park. In addition, he felt lights would nullify the “dawn to dusk” hours of the park. Councilman Suggests Resolution to Protest House Bill 1405

At Monday’s Ellwood City Borough Council agenda meeting, council member George Celli proposed a resolution to oppose PA House Bills 1405 and 2030. Both bills would set new regulations on the borough’s electric department, including restricting council’s ability to shift electric fund revenue to the general fund. If council passed Celli’s resolution, it would indicate council’s opposition to the legislation but have no legal impact. Council added the resolution to the agenda but no other members spoke for or against it. The bills are sponsored by State Rep. Perry Township Clean-Up Day Scheduled For May 12

The Perry Township Supervisors will hold their Annual Clean-Up Day on May 12, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00. There will be a $ 10.00 fee for each load brought for disposal. There will be two collection sites: the parking lots of the Perry Township Municipal Building and the Wurtemburg Perry Twp. Volunteer Fire Department.  Items not accepted:  tires, batteries, paint, oil products, and anything containing freon. Seven Local Graduates Recognized at CCBC “Night Of Excellence” Celebration

Hopewell Twp., PA  – On Tuesday, April 3, Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) brought together faculty and staff, trustees, donors, and families to recognize and celebrate 110 students, including seven Riverside and Ellwood City graduates, who have achieved success in the classroom, on campus, and in the community during the past year. VIDEO: Police Looking For Suspects Throwing Beer Bottles At Cars

According to a publish report, state authorities say, in a reckless and dangerous spree, someone is throwing beer bottles into car windshields along Route 288 Wampum Road. According to a KDKA video report, it has happened three times in less than a week on the dark and winding stretch of Route 288. All three victims are teenagers and parents aren’t too thrilled. State police are investigating, but they don’t have many leads.  If you have information to help police solve the crime spree, please contact your local authorities.

Five BC3 Students, Including Lincoln High School Grad, To Lobby For Increased Community College Funding

(Butler, PA) Five Butler County Community College students, including a 2017 Lincoln High School student, will advocate for increased community college funding Tuesday in the state Capitol Rotunda in response to a 2018-19 budget proposal from Gov. Tom Wolf that freezes operational disbursements at 2017-18 levels. While Wolf’s $32.9 billion fiscal plan includes an additional $1.8 million in reimbursements for approved capital projects, it holds the line on operational spending for Pennsylvania’s 14 community colleges at the current $232.1 million level.
