Neisa Carsele and Zoe Kalantzis Awarded with LHS 1957 Class Scholarship

Neisa M. Carsele and Zoe Maria Kalantzis, high honor graduates in Lincoln High School’s 2018 class, have added their names to the list of winners of the LHS 1957 class scholarship. Carsele received the annual $5,000.00 scholarship along with a special award of $500.00 For the best essay. She will enroll in the division of undergraduate studies for biology at Penn State University. Kalantzis was given a $2000.00 scholarship. She will study biomedical engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. PHOTOS: Relay For Life

Many attended the Ellwood City’s “Be A Superhero” Relay for Life  Saturday on Lawrence Avenue. There was a “Chalk the Town” sidewalk art contest The included food, crafts and vendors along with musical entertainment. One Voice, Average Jane, Elvis Vaughn Hudspath, The’m Guys and Nickle Plated Revolver performed throughout the day at the relay. There was also a performance from the young dancers at Diamond Dance Academy. The evening wrapped up with a Luminara Dedication Ceremony, where decorated luminary bags were lit and lined Lawrence Avenue. Below is a gallery of images from the Relay for Life:

Pennsylvania Utility Commission Announcement

In a letter to sent to Council President, Judi Dici, a decision on May 18 from the Pennsylvania Utility Commission (PUC), it was announced that utility customers across Pennsylvania would receive a discount of $320,000,000 per year.  This will mean more money will be in the pockets of the hard-working people who pay utility bills. Residents who surround Ellwood City will receive a discount of either 8.07% (Penn Power customers) on or 7.34% (West Penn Power) on their distribution charges.  Should consumers of Ellwood City Electric Company not receive this discount, it will only increase the 27% premium that residents…

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Tuesday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m. – “Family Laptime,” designed for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. BC3 Announces President’s List, Dean’s List and Spring 2018 Graduates

Butler County Community College is proud to announce the names of those students who have made the President’s List and Dean’s List for the spring 2018 semester, as well as recent graduates. Students who have achieved a cumulative GPA (grade point average) of 3.75 or higher are named to the President’s List following completion of at least 12 semester hours or upon completion of degree requirements. Ellwood City Lincoln High School enjoyed its graduation ceremony Thursday evening at Leslie Sabo Memorial Auditorium. A total of 120 students received diplomas at the commencement. BC3 Offers NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Courses This Summer

“I saw a difference immediately,” student says of one-on-one instruction Instructor Michael Pearson’s corrections to their unrecognized habits when missing 4-inch targets with their .22-caliber and 9mm semi-automatic handguns produced groupings of rounds piercing those circles 10 feet distant, said students in the first of six NRA basic pistol shooting courses scheduled in 2018 by Butler County Community College. Riverside High School has 102 seniors graduating in the class of 2018. There are five students who have received high honors. The top five students are listed in alphabetical order below: Jenna R.
