ELLWOOD CITY – In a letter sent Monday to all 23 municipalities in the 10th Legislative District, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) invited local officials to work with him to develop business-friendly practices in a unified effort to boost regional job growth.
“I believe it is the responsibility of our government to work together for our region and bolster our communities,” Bernstine said. “We need to make sure that we are giving businesses every reason to relocate or open in our municipalities.”
Earlier this year, Bernstine worked with Slippery Rock Borough Mayor Jondavid Longo and council members to formulate a 25 percent fee reduction proposal for new businesses which establish a location within the municipality. Borough council unanimously voted to adopt the proposal in June.
Bernstine said he hopes to partner with other municipalities in the 10th District to establish similar proposals.
“My No. 1 mission as a state representative has been to bring jobs to the 10th Legislative District,” Bernstine said. “I am hopeful every single municipal official in our district will join me in pursuing pro-job policies.”
The 10th District includes portions of Beaver County, including the city of Beaver Falls, the townships of Franklin, North Sewickley and Pulaski, and the boroughs of Eastvale, Ellwood City, Koppel and New Brighton; parts of Butler County, including Slippery Rock Township and Slippery Rock Borough; as well as the townships of Little Beaver, Perry, Plain Grove, Scott, Slippery Rock, Taylor, Washington and Wayne, and the boroughs of Ellport, Ellwood City, Enon Valley, New Beaver, Volant and Wampum in Lawrence County.
