Council Votes on Issue Regarding Ellwood City Electric

Ellwood City Council Votes 4-2 at Monday’s agenda meeting to find out more information on Rep. Aaron Bernstine’s suggested changes to the Ellwood City Electrical Department.

The council will not be voting on the seven issues suggested by Bernstine at next Monday’s council meeting. Council President, Judith Dici and Interim Borough Manager, Joe Cioffi felt it would be better to wait to vote on some of the issues until there could be further negotiation with Bernstine and Senator, Elder Vogel about them.

However, two council members Robert Brough and Lisa Guerrera challenged the timeliness of the Borough’s actions and asked the board to put all the suggestions by the legislators up for a vote next week.

The letter submitted to council regarding the suggested changes was received by council on July 30 and the letter urged that council implement all changes by Aug. 31. Council members voted 4-2 to negotiate the suggested changes further and not put the seven issues on the agenda for next week.

Below you can view the letter sent to council regarding the suggested changes.

  1. I don’t understand why people who should be concerned with making EC a better place would resist implementing changes that would only make EC more attractive to businesses and families. Having this oddity only serves to make EC a pariah and until it is changed will only prevent the town from being rejuvenated no matter how many other changes are made.

Berstine and his followers have created a feeling of a ‘Them and Us’ mentality. Despite Residents wanting blatant similarity all Berstine has found is a vulgar superficiality that he is focusing to a sharpness and has shared it with the others. His followers now feel a false signified anger and misery.

This man breeds hate, which is a simple manifestation of a deep-seated self-directed frustration all he is doing is promoting fear and consternation. He has filled an entire community with trepidation.

Aaron has played the role of bending the significance to match his whimsied fable of partial truths. Therefore, tumulting for ignorance and violence towards our local government. He has formed a confused and loose alliance of them and us.

We have heard Bernstine use the pulpit of social media to assert his stance on all matters from local governmental issues to declaring verbal war on a university student column writer. Let’s not forget his affirmation to take the lives of a protester in the streets.

  3. Labeling others as “angry and in misery” when there is clearly an underling rage in those who fear the change that is necessary to move this community forward is merely an attempt at manipulation of those who are easily swayed.

Aaron breeds nothing, he reflects. He reflects the frustration of a community that is tired of being taken advantage of by it’s local politicians. It was evident in the last counsel election and will certainly be in the next if changes are not made.

I see that counsel has come to it’s senses though. I am sure for political expediency sake, but they are adopting reforms none the less. It is sad to see someone attempt to use aloof and flowery language to disguise their utter contempt for a man that is only trying to improve the community for EVERYONE.
