Borough Residents Asked To Keep Grass Trimmed

Ralph Chiappetta, Ellwood City borough code enforcement officer, is asking residents to trim their grass and clear junk from lawns. Grass should not be blown into streets.  The Borough of Ellwood City first yard waste pick-up is scheduled for the week of May 13, 2019 for area residents with future dates made available on borough utility bills. Pine Valley Ride For Hope

The Pine Valley Ride for Hope will be hosting its 6th annual event this year on Saturday, June 22, rain or shine. If there happens to be rain, there will be an alternative route, that is shorter, taken. This year, it will be hosted by the New Castle Harley Davidson dealership located on 4655 US 422. Registration will be on the day of the event from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The cost is $30 or a driver, that will include a t-shirt, $15 for a passenger, and $15 for anyone who comes to eat. Primary Election Voting Information

There are two locations available to be used for voting in the Primary Elections for Franklin Township. Voting will be on Tuesday, May 21 from 7:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M. The two locations that will be open is the Franklin Township Building at 897 State Route 288 and the Volunteer Fire Department located at 808 Old Zelienople Road The last day to register for voting is on Monday, April 22 with the last day to request an absentee ballot following on Tuesday, May 14. Hospital Zoning District Vote To Be Held In May

During a public hearing Monday night, Ellwood City Council voted to advertise an amendment to the zoning ordinance and map regarding the Ellwood City Medical Center. A formal vote to create a zoning district could come as early as the May 20 council meeting. The only speaker during the meeting was Benjamin Steinberg an attorney representing Penn Med LLC, a lender who is seeking a more than $5 million judgement against Americore Health LLC, Ellwood Medical Center LLC, and Ellwood Medical Center Real Estate LLC. Public Meeting Planned To Review Ellwood City Downtown Development Project

The Borough of Ellwood City is conducting a public open house meeting to review and discuss design development plans and a preliminary engineering report prepared for the Ellwood City Downtown Central Business District Revitalization and Economic Development Project. This study is for improvements to the portion of Lawrence Avenue between 4th Street and 6th Street. Bernstine Takes on Legislation to Increase Government Transparency

HARRISBURG – Continuing his mission to increase government transparency and accountability, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) has reintroduced legislation in the state House of Representatives to expand Pennsylvania’s Sunshine Act. The Pennsylvania Sunshine Act requires state and local agencies to deliberate and take official action on agency business in an open and public meeting. While agencies are required to give notice when a meeting will be held, they are not required to include the purpose of a meeting. PHOTOS: Ellwood City Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Hundreds of children, of all ages, swarmed the Ewing Park grounds on a spring-like Saturday for the 24th Annual Ellwood City Easter Egg Hunt. According to their social media page, “[the hunt] had roughly 720 children lots of candy got handed out.along with cookies from Eat N Park. This was one of the best attendance we have had in a long time. The support we got from our community was amazing” The free event featured over 9,000 colored eggs and 30 golden eggs handed out. When local dog lover, Tim O’Brien (or more commonly known as T.O) acquired the property on 125 First Street, he wanted to do something different then the common bar and grill places located throughout the small town of Ellwood City.
